I forgot my backup password?How do I fix it without clearing data?

I have a fingerprint scanner,but for some reason I placed my thumb after the shower when it was kind of wet and locked me out.The idiotic part is I sort of forgot my backup password...how do I get back in without clearing personal data.

my phone is actually galaxy note edge. i am completely lockup and can't turn on anything.

I have a Samsung A5 and was also completely locked out. No way I could get back in. I could not access the fingerprintscanner anymore etc. I was 'afraid' I would loose my data if I would do a hard reset (back to factory settings). Anyway, I tried to find a way around it (like you guys do now) but couldn't find. Been days locked out while I needed my smartphone very much (being in a foreign country)... so. I did the reset. Guess what? All my data was still accesible! Probably because I had made sure that my data got automatically transfered to my SD card. So they actually weren't on my phone's memory. Just as with everything on my SIM (contacts/phonenumbers). It was all still there! The only app I had to re-install was WhatsApp. But even then by doing so, the app itself had all my conversations stored.

Bottomline: to do a reset does not evaporate all data necessarily; as long as you had an SD card in it where you stored your pics and vids etc. And as long as you store your Contacts on your SIM card instead of the phone's memory itself. Hope this helps for at least some! :)

Only possible options without erasing info is to get your thumb wet again and see if it works or remember your back up code

Opções

If you have already registered your Samsung Note 5 with Samsung, using the “Remote Controls” feature on your Samsung Galaxy will allow you to use Samsung’s Find My Mobile service.

1.Register the Note 5 with Samsung

2.Use the Find My Mobile service to temporary reset the password

3.Bypass the lock screen using the new temporary password

4.Set a new password

I had the same problem for 2 weeks...LOCKED OUT....well after a lot of digging I logged onto Google Account Recovery and it showed me all the email addresses that I have created due to tablets, old phones, etc. Then I changed the passwords on each one of them, requesting that the pin code be left as a voice message, not a text. After you reset the password you are able to get in without fingerprint. Before all this, I went to Sprint and idiots did a hard reset and I did lose everything. After the reset they couldn't fix due to password so they walked me over to a landline and gave me the Samsung # to tech support. They were useless because I didn't know my log in or PW. Samsung even asked me to mail my phone in to Plano, TX for the Marshmallow update. Think about it really hard, EVERY phone has a Gmail attached to it...Good luck but this is really the only way to unlock. If you go to a local store to jailbreak, your phone will never work the same some of the apps will fail.

Thanks Eric!! My husband's Note 5 was locked all day today and after a bit of research and weeding through the "wipe all your data" options, I found you post! The "Find My Mobile" allowed us to log into his Samsung account and unlock his phone by using his Google password! AWESOME! Thank you so much!
