Why is the laptop shuting down after 5 seconds without POST?

Hi,

Firstly just connect the charger/power adapter and see if the laptop indicates that it is charging.

If not, you either have a faulty charger, faulty charging circuit in the laptop or a faulty battery.

If it does, allow it to charge for a while then try starting the laptop with the charger still connected and on.

If it starts, does it boot normally? If so, take a note of the state of charge in the battery. If low shut down the laptop and allow the battery to fully charge. Once charged, disconnect the charger and see if it starts on the battery. If it does not boot on a fully charged battery but does with the charger connected then you probably have a failing battery.

If it does not boot normally with the charger connected, how far does it progress and do you get any indication via lights or beeps of a problem?
