Water Dispenser dispenses water slowly

I have a GE PFSS2MJXASS Refrigerator and the water dispenses slowly. Ice maker works fine. I recently replaced the water filter and valve and that did not fix the problem. When i unscrew the water filter and replace it the water dispenses fine for a short time and then the flow slows down. I hear air when the filter is connected to the refrigerator so i suspect the problem is with the part that you screw the water filter into. Any ideas on how best to fix would be appreciated.
