Hi,
The issue with my ipod is that , after charging my ipod for a while , I can only use it
if i play a song and lock the screen and let it run like that and once if i unlock the screen
then battery goes down and it gets turnoff .
Can any one help me with the issue.

It sound like you have a faulty battery. Best option is to take it back to the apple store to have it replaced. There are alot of people having the same problem. If I have to suggest another option... I would suggest you completely drain your iPod battery and they fully charge it again. See if the problem reoccurs.
