How can I know what still works of my iPhone 5s

My iPhone 5s has been dropped in water a couple of months ago. I didn't have money or time to get it fixed, or fix it myself. Now that I have time, I have decided to do it myself. but I want to know what still works, so that I know what to order/replace.

Since it has been a couple of months, the battery died completely, but when I plugged it into my computer it detected the iPhone after a couple of minutes. Also when I unplug and replug it, it gets detected right away. Can I conclude that the battery still works out of that? Unfortunately the LCD doesn't work anymore. I do know for sure that the home button and lock button still work, because when I hold those it gets disconnected from my computer and gets reconnected after a minute.

I don't know how to figure out if the speakers, vibration, volume up/down, vibration button, digitizer, fingerscanner and the front and rear camera still work. Since it got turned off because the battery died I can't reconnect it to iTunes because I need to unlock it for that.

Unfortunately fixing water damage isn't as simple as just dousing it with 99% alcohol and washing away the damage. It sounds like you didn't disconnect the battery after the water incident, so that is going to make this a worst case scenario. Here is a great video to show what happens with water damage:

To answer your question directly: In order to be able to diagnose all of the issues your phone has, you will need to fully disassemble it, remove the shields, then examine the whole mainboard and all components under a microscope, testing every system with a multimeter. This is not a DIY project. Most of us professionals will only offer data recovery for something like this. That means we might be able to get it up and running long enough to recovery pictures or files but probably not running well enough to use as a phone.

Take a look at that video, its well worth your time.

Good luck!

I will open it up and take a look inside, this way I can try to see if I have a lot of corrosion or not, if not I might take a shot at it. Thanks for the video!
