MacBook Pro doesn't turn on

Hello guys,

I looked here for a solution to my problem but nothing helped me. I was using my macbook pro copying some pictures from an usb key to a folder, but suddenly my laptop turned off. Here it is what i tried to do

I tried plugging in the charger

i removed the battery and plugged it again after 10 minutes

i tried to remove the battery, plug in the charger and try to boot

i tried to remove the battery, pressed the power on button, then connected the battery again, tried again to boot pressing the button and cmd for 10 seconds.

i tried to boot the mac pressing the key combination SHIFT-CTRL-CMD- Power button for ten seconds

I removed the HDD and installed the older one

i switched the RAMS

i removed both and one ram too

Nothing worked

One month ago i had another problem with my laptop and the technician installed a new hdd. My laptop worked until today

What do you suggest?

Nothing happens, nothing lights up or moves. The only lights are the ones belonging to the battery indicator that seems to work properly.

Hello guys thanks for your help.

My MP isn't unfortunately under warranty. I thought it was a battery problem but i tried that battery, on another macbook and it works perfectly.

This afternoon i will try to bypass the power button thank you.

Here there are some things that could help you.

The magsafe recharger shows a green light even if the battery is around 40 % but when i press the power on button for a long time it happened that the light turns to yellow. I said it happened cause it only happens sometimes and randomly.

When i removed the back cover of the laptop i found the recharger board that was moving around its place cause its bolds weren't totally tightened.

The side battery indicator works, it shows the correct battery charge.

Thank you!

Sounds like a logic board fault. Not much you can do besides replacing the whole logic board. You might have some luck with ghetto methods such as leaving it on and overheating it on purpose by turning it on and leaving it under some blankets (if it turns on, but refuses to boot i.e fans still run, MagSafe turns on). Otherwise, you might be outta luck.

EDIT: Realised you said nothing turns on, seems like a power issue with the logic board.

There are a few things to check.

1) Is it under warranty, assuming it isn't because you are here but have to check.

2) Try turning it on by bypassing the power button, the question here has instructions on how to accomplish this. Where is the power jumper on the logic board? *edit* (Check here for your model and where the pads are located) http://www.insidemylaptop.com/turn-on-ma...

The initial hard shutdown is interesting if the power button has issues maybe it triggered a hard shutdown and won't work to turn it back on.

3a) If bypassing the power button didn't work take a look at the magsafe board(MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2012 MagSafe DC-In Board Replacement) and inspect it for visual damage, also check your battery for swelling and see if it has charge(battery indicator button). Also does the power adapter have an LED light when plugged into the computer? If not the magsafe board might need to be replaced.

3b) If the bypass does work congrats, the computer is still working. Try reseating the keyboard cables on the logic board then try turning it on normally.(cables shown in steps 11-12 of this guide MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2012 Logic Board Replacement)
