My computer didn't update and now its stuck on a blue screen saying that its undoing changes but its been on this screen for a couple weeks now it won't go back to the way it was what's wrong with it ?

Hi,
Did you try to "refresh " your system?
If not try the following:
Ensure that your notebook is plugged in to a power source before refreshing your system
Restart your notebook then press F9 during POST.
Wait for Windows to load the "Choose an Option" screen, then tap Troubleshoot
Tap "Refresh your PC" read the info there then tap "Next"
Select the account you wish to refresh, type in the password then tap "continue"
Tap "Refresh"'
Troubleshoot also has Advanced options such as System Image recovery which may be more useful if you have done a recent system image backup.
The "Reset my PC" option under "Troubleshooting" is an option of last resort as it will restore your PC to default and you will lose all your info.

I'm trying to fix my wife's tablet (ASUS T100), on which swiping all of a sudden stopped working. I'm a rookie at dealing with this device. What exactly does "during POST" mean? I see it used a lot, but never explained.

P.O.S.T. means Power On Self Test. It means that when you first turn on the PC there is a diagnostic program permanently built into the PC by the manufacturer which runs and checks that all the necessary hardware devices e.g. video processor, CPU, Memory, HDD etc, etc, built into the PC are responding as designed and if so, after a successful POST it can then start the 'boot' (kick start if you like) process of starting the OS (operating system e.g. Windows) which is stored on the HDD (Hard Disk Drive).
2 part answer
During POST means pressing the appropriate key after you start the PC but before the boot process starts. A lot of PCs have a manufacturer's 'splash screen logo that is on during POST so do it then. If you do it too early, POST will stop until you let go the key, then it will continue. If you do it with no stops or beeps then you have probably succeeded. If you do it and you get the Windows startup screen , power down and try again. What a lot of repair options do is get the repairer to slot in between the time that POST finishes and the 'boot' process begins by operating a function key e.g F11 or F2 (which gets you into BIOS {Basic Input Output System on a lot of PC-not all some use Delete} - which allows you to configure the 'hardware' of the PC) which allow you to select different options instead of 'booting' to the OS, like troubleshooting or selecting a different 'drive to boot from .e,g, a USB stick. By design a PC always wants to boot from a HDD unless you intervene and tell it otherwise
Each manufacturer has different F key functions so you need to check the User Guide for your particular model to see which key does what.

Thank you very much - knowing what POST means, & a little about it will, I hope, help me to time the F key intervention to get into the repair process, where I think I need to use the ATK package, which I got from the ASUS website, to try to reinstate normal sliding on the touch screen.

Hi, Try plugging in a USB mouse. It should allow you to use the PC 'normally' if you can get to the desktop (don't know if you have Win 8.1 or 10 but should be close. Use the 'mouse to click on Start > Settings > Devices > Mouse and Touchpad se if there are any options for you there. If no go back to Devices > Connected Devices scroll down and click on Device Manager look for Mice and other pointing devices if not there check under HID Human Interface devices expand to find Touchscreen (maybe -I'm guessing this because I don't have a touchscreen model laptop/PC. If you find it right click on properties and then go from there.
If that fails try plugging in a USB keyboard. When you get to the login screen Hold the shift key while you select (with the arrow keys ) the power button then restart (use the enter key ) It should then start in Recovery mode to give you options. Try using the USB mouse to navigate.
