Is my iPhone completely dead?

I recently had my iPhone in my pocket on a very hot day with rain pants over top. My body heat was really high that day and when I finally got a chance to take the rain pants off my phone was almost too hot to touch.

The screen flashed white when you pressed the power or home button at first, but now it does nothing unless you try and reset it by holding the home+power button. When you do that it flashes grey for a minute and then goes back to black.

It also will not charge or be recognized by iTunes, nor will it vibrate when switched to silent.

Logic board fried?

Okay, so.. I haven't had a chance to order a new battery yet.

I tried your suggestion Jason, and no-go. Itunes won't recognize it.

So, I guess the battery finally fully discharged. And.. when it did the phone was able to display the Dead Battery, Please plugin graphic? ... Was excited, but, as soon as I plugged it in back to the whole grey/white screen flashing thing.

Still think its the battery guys?

I believe the issue here is the battery, though I'm no expert I'm going to guess that installing a new battery would be a good move.

Try to force it into restore mode by holding the home button for 15 seconds then plugging the sync cable in while still holding the home button. Obviously iTunes should already be open. It should give you the connect screen. Itunes will ask if you want to do a firmware restore. Click ok. After it does the firmware restore you should be able to choose to load your personal iPhone restore back on it. You will only get the items saved up to the last sync, but it's better than nothing. This is why I suggest to all my customers they sync often. Plus, the more often you sync, the less amount of time it takes to sync simply because iTunes only saves the changes, not a complete memory image every time.

Yes.. apparently, when you have the phone in your pocket for an extended time, it WILL OVER HEAT and ultimately turn itself off to protect itself from terminal damage (it's designed that way). So, when you are faced with the problem of a blacked out screen (and you had it in your back pocket or somewhere it can over heat) let the phone cool for about a half an hour and while it's plugged in (power), press and hold both the power and home button for 15 seconds and it should turn back on (you'll see the apple icon on the screen come on and it'll chime).. good luck to all and I hope this helps!.. It helped me!... Thanks to everyone who has posted before me and gave me some insight!..
