Whats the best adhesive for fixing chrome bezel to back housing?

What is the best glue/adhesive solution to use when re-attaching the chrome bezel to the back housing on the 3g/3gs?

I am guessing a strong glue that is slightly flexible but not so fluid like super-glue and can be applied accurately with a syringe or similar.

Would it also be best to clamp the freshly glued back plate and bezel together with pegs or similar until the glue has set?

Any suggestions or tips?

Solução escolhida

Best bet would be to use a similar class of glue, namely a resin. I would try an epoxy resin that's graded for metal and plastics.

If you want an exact match, try:

I would personally go for 10-3008 since it is flexible, has a high shear and peel strength, can be used on metals and plastics and is impact and vibration proof.

Here is one on eBay. I use the same one in my cell phone repair shop for iPhone 3G and 3GS and it works great.

I've gotten excellent results using Silicone Rubber... except for the SMell (strong VINEGAR odor!)

I'd recommend a Caulk available at your local Home Renovation store.... in the paint department, usually - It has NO ODOR, and easily removed later.

Look for a caulk that is mixed with Silicone Rubber.... PAINTABLE CAULK.... hardly any odor, will adhere to plastics, glass, wood.etc... and when your done, or made a mistake, the parts can be separated with mild muscle power!

COST: About $4.00 (US), for a 10 Oz Tube. Look for smaller sizes, which are easily kept in your tool box or parts drawers.
