Touch ID Home Button Hot after LCD Screen Replacement

Thanks for reading my question!

I dropped my phone last week and cracked my LCD screen. I had a reputable 3rd party replace my LCD (not Apple). I have run into a problem with my Touch ID home button being constantly hot and causing a noticeable battery drain. I have narrowed it down to just the button that is hot and not the surrounding area.

The vendor is trying to do me right and changed the LCD back plate and then tried a couple of different screens to try and resolve the problem. So far nothing has worked and we're out of ideas.

This leads me to believe that something happened to the button it's self. I know that the Touch ID button is married to logic board and Apple is the only source to resolve that. They won't help (even if I offer to pay) since I had a 3rd party open the phone.

I'm trying to identify the part of the button that is heating up and diagrams of the part are few and far between. I'm assuming there is some kind of resistance due to something not being grounded or maybe a ribbon connection is not 100%.

Have any of you guys taken a Touch ID button apart and know what might be heating the button up?

Do you guys have any incite to what part of the button is actually married to the logic board? The ribbon with the QR Code? Or the actual sensor in the button?

Thanks again! -J

Got exactly the same issue as J, iPhone 6 with broken screen changed for new screen and now hot home button, changed for another screen and back plate but still the same hot button issue. all connections triple checked. Only thing that may have effected it, the LCD including the home button from this phone was momentarily plugged into an other phone, iPhone 6s Plus, to test the screen before being fitted. Yes I now know that probably not a great idea interms of potentially bricking the 6s Plus, (it didn't) but why would it cause a problem with the physical home button now getting hot?? Is a 6s plus different operating voltage?

There is just a flex cable, a button face and a sensor chip, that's all.

For iPhone 6, since there is only one chip, the married part is the chip itself.

People on the intranets seem to throw the verbiage around between the flex cable and the button interchangeably. Is it possible to take the button off the flex cable and attach a new flex cable to the original button? I've noticed the comments around the people wanting to change the ring color.
