Replace top case for keyboard US versus UK layout

Have a mid-2009 MBP 13, with UK keyboard layout, which means it is slightly different from the US original one, mainly in that the return key and a few others are differently shaped. The point of this is that the top case is different.

The MBP has worked like a charm. It's amazing how long it's lasted, but now the keyboard, and especially the power button have given up. Cleaned it with a wet cleaning tissue without first powering off. Doh!

This model is now classed "Vintage" by Apple so no miore repairs or parts available. Looked for top case and found the one at iFixit linked to in older post, but that has the original US keyboard layout. Thus two questions:

1. Can I put on the iFixit's top case with the US keyboard layout and key shapes on an MBP that originally has the UK one with a differently shaped return button etc?

2. In the end, may have to give the keyboard replacement a go since that's really all I need. However, where do I find a list of tools needed? Have none now.

I had replaced the keyboard on my unibody MacBook Pro a few years ago with success. It is still working for me to this day. You won't find much help in the way of a how to because most people just say you have to replace the whole upper. Here are some tips

Look up your MacBook Pro teardown and use those tools/steps to get to the upper case

You can probably get the keyboard from eBay for $23 - $30 USD

The old backlight can still be used even if the replacement keyboard comes with one

It's held on by 56 - 58 #0000 screws (That's 4 zeros, not 3 zeros) I had to specifically buy this screwdriver

The screws strip easily, so be careful. If you end up stripping one or seven, you can get them out with a pair of needle-nose pliers (if there's no other way). I had to do this with a few. I ended up ripping the keyboard through the screw (I know, it's not professional or pretty). Then turned them out with the pliers.

It's about a 2-hour process if you take your time
