I put my 5s in a 5c housing everything fit perfect, But the iPhone 5 is layed out different from both.

How did you do that..? How did the 5s flash fit into the 5c housing..?!
Believe it or not the housings for both these devices are laid out the exact same when it comes to screw positions. Then you swap out the headphone/lightning port cable as well, and the camera sensor, and the get a custom plastic frame for the display assembly to put on a 5S screen and it should work! The frame for these devices is exactly the same when it comes to screw lay out too... It's weird how some of these parts were designed the same. Even the battery is backwards compatible. I want to do it myself and have a 5CS... LMFAO It'll be an iPhone 5C in the S housing...
So can I just buy a 5s housing and put my 5c into the 5s housing
You can, but you will also need to buy the plastic frame that surrounds the display and helps it clip into place. I'm not so sure how the flash module would work since the 5S uses Ture-tone, and the 5C has a regular flash. But be sure to swap out the lightning/headphone port as well since that's what connects Touch ID to the 5S and it has the home button prongs on the 5C

nope, but while i am on, if you want your iPhone to look like an iPhone SE model then just buy the iPhone 6 mini housing from ebay for whatever variant you have 5C/5S/5. i changed an iPhone 5 to the pink colour SE and it looked very well

Yes, Some of this is possible. If you wanted you could interchange an iPhone 5C/5S/SE 1st Generation Logic Board with Each others housings, as the screw layout is identical between the 3, but the iPhone 5 has a different screw layout, so it wouldn’t work. Although, there would complications from there. First off, the flash/volume/power/mute switch/vibrator motor ribbon cable is interchangeable between the iPhone 5C and the iPhone 5S, but not the iPhone SE First Generation. But, you would lose your true tone flash, and it will be replaced by the default single-LED flash from the iPhone 5C. Second, the iPhone 5C LCD connector cable is different from the 5S and SE 1st Generation, although the iPhone 5S and SE 1st Generation Displays and Display Assemblies are identical and interchangeable, but the iPhone SE 1st Generation has a better front-facing camera and speaker. To avoid this issue of the LCD Connector, you would first need to remove the LCD Plastic Frame from the LCD on both the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S Display Assemblies, as the iPhone 5C and the iPhone 5S LCD Plastic Frames are different, and are not interchangeable. Next, you would need to attach the iPhone 5S LCD to the iPhone 5C Plastic Frame. But, there is another complication. The home button in the iPhone 5C and the iPhone 5S are very different. Both the iPhone 5C and the iPhone 5S have a metal bracket behind the home button, but the screw layout is different for both of them. You would need to create another screw hole below the right original screw hole that matches the iPhone 5S metal bracket layout, but on the iPhone 5C LCD Plastic Frame. The last issue is the headphone and lighting connector dock, you will need to swap it and the speaker out for the iPhone 5S dock and speaker into the iPhone 5C housing. Another thing that isn’t actually necessary, is the battery. The iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S battery are interchangeable (although the iPhone SE 1st Generation battery is different, and is not interchangeable), but it would be wise to buy a new battery and replace it. And Voila! You should now have a Touch-ID enabled (unless you have a replacement home button) iPhone 5S inside of a 5C Housing!
