Were you able to solve the issue? I am going through the EXACT same thing. On my original phone I was having a similar problem where the phone would just shut off during use requiring taking the battery out and then it would work for a bit then the same thing. I went to Sprint and had that phone swapped with a new one. The new phone is now doing EXACTLY what yours is doing. Sometimes, when I press the power button to just turn off the screen (not a long hold) the power menu shows up, the phone stays on for 2-3 seconds longer, then the phone shuts itself. It then gets stuck at the s4 screen until I remove the battery.

No matter what I tried, I couldn't get the phone to stop reboot looping. I did some digging and read that apparently Samsung phones are notorious for sticking power buttons and the symptoms were exactly what I was experiencing. I watched some videos online how to open the phone and clean out the power button but it didn't make a difference. I then read that squeezing the connector for the power button with a pair of pliers sometimes does the trick. Not for me. So finally since I'm not under warranty, have no insurance, and the phone wasn't working anyway, I just ripped the white plastic part of the power button right off. Well, that seemed to do the trick. Phone immediately fired back up without issue and has been going strong. I glued a small thin piece of plastic where the old one used to be and I am back in action. If my little plastic piece solution eventually fails or breaks off I will consider soldering on a new button but so far so good.

If you have tried everything else, and are looking for last resort, try cleaning the power button with some alcohol, and if that fails, rip off that power button! Here is the video that gave me the idea: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Glllc7b... and here are some other power button videos: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_q...

Right before you see the galaxy screen, plug your charger in

That'll bring you to the battery charging state and from there just press the power button

this may require repeats

I just had this problem! I took mine to a repair shop and the lady change out everything. Power button, charging port, home button, put a new battery, did a mastery phone reset (erases everything). She couldn't figure it out so she sent it to samsung and they fixed it! It had a broken compound, they replaced it only cost $70 it had something else but I can't remember what it was I'll check and post later
