Battery Replacement MacBook Pro 13"

I replaced the battery in my Macbook Pro Mid 2009. After the install the battery indicator said that I have 73%. Do I have to fully charge the batter before using? Also the lower left hand corner of my track pad does not click now. Did I do something wrong? Or, is the battery defective? I noticed when installing that the screw hole on the upper right of the battery wasn't drilled correctly at the factory and I had to ream it out to get the screw to go in. Any one with thoughts on this? Thanks, Angelo
