Problem after installing a new hard drive? Software issue?

I have just finished installing my new hard drive on a 160gb iPod classic.

I ran into a problem whilst trying to reconnect the HDD cable as the HD I have purchased has the clip loose from it and I can't secure the cable.

I now have no way of connecting the HDD cable to the iPod, I've tried a little bit of sellotape but that doesn't seem to work, as when I tried turning it on after I'm getting the big red X in a circle.
