Blackscreen since startup, but work with HDMI cable on my TV

Hello all,

I've a problem with my superb iMac 27¨ late 2009.

But since yesterday, with no reason, the main screen doesn't work.... the screen stay black during startup, then when OS X started, and as I use the external HDMI port with my TV, I can see the desktop and I can work with my iMac.

However the main screen remain black ....

I saw many answers on the web site, but nothin regarding a black screen from the beginning of the power-on.

Do you think that changing the LCD will works?

Do you have any idea, excepting resetting CMOS, NVRAM, SMC? (as I can see any thing on my main screen).

I've a bluetooh keyboard, I've only a Windows USB keyboard, do you think I can use it to press some command during startup?

First I would try using a flashlight shining it at an angle at the display it would allow you to see a faint image of your desktop icons. If you see them then you know the LCD its self is OK, just the backlight that has failed. If you don't see the desktop then the LCD is bad.

As to resetting the NVRAM sadly you'll need an Apple USB keyboard. Follow this Apple TN: Startup key combinations for Intel-based Macs

I'll try with the flashlight shining of my iphone. However, when the imac is started, I can play with the os x setting to change the scree, brightness I can see that the screen will go from low to high brightness.

Tried with flashlight seems the lcd is dead.

Tried also NVRAM reset, it doesn't work.

I search for lcd to buy and delivery for france, but it's expensive :-/

Sorry ;-{ Try going to an Apple Store to see what they can do for you. Ask for an estimate first then decide.

Yes, but unfortunately the lcd is too expensive for me, more than 350$...
