Front camera and proximity sensor not working after screen replacement

Recently replaced my front panel assembly and now my front camera and proximity sensor don't seem to work. Camera just freezes when I try to use front camera, and sensor is completely unresponsive. Does the copper tape play a significant role? I tried to transfer over as best as I could. Also the replacement part should not involve any soldering or other adjustment correct? Should just be a plug in go? http://www.ebay.com/itm/251425398896?ssP...

I took it to a cellphone repair shop and even they couldn't get it to work. Supposedly the way in which you remove the screen has to do with this glitch (Common issue with 4/4s they said). I honestly just think something was shorted in the removal or installation. Does anybody have any pointers or guidance? TIA

Hi there I'm not sure what the copper tape is for but I think it's for grounding..

Have you tryed installing the old part or was the camera not working on that either?

If the repair shop tryed another part and it still didn't work it could be a damaged pin connector on the motherboard

Yes that's what my best guess is as well, would not installing the tape correctly impact the phone this much?

And the old part does not work either. It stopped working after I installed the new screen. So I had assumed I had somehow damaged the flex cable. Sad to say but I think you may be right about pin connector, I don't see anything evident but when I get another chance to take apart I will take a picture. Is this fixable by the way?

To be honest I don't think installing the tape would cause the camera not to work bit I could be wrong..yea a picture would really help..

Yea there is company's out there that preform motherboard solder repairs..

A little late response but for anyone else who does this its definitely not the copper tape. I've ripped the copper tape without actually ripping the flex for the camera and everything worked perfect. However you don't even have to remove the copper tape either. You could just take the whole lcd shield and transfer it without taking the copper tape off, after all your putting it back on the same lcd shield anyways.

after power flex cable replacement, no front facing camera and the vibrator just vibrates non stop when i got a call or message. long annoying vibration. i have no idea how to solve the problem. Does anyone have this issue in the same tim no front cam and !@#$%^ up vibration?

I pulled the wifi antenna a bit during the replacement. Could this be the reason? Ohhh and its an iPhone 5.

the same thing happened when i replaced the screen for an iphone 5s. every time i tried to open the camera app it would just close; However the camera did work on snapchat and i assume other apps as well but i dont understand why it didnt work on the Iphone camera app. anyone have similar issues or different?

I had the same issue. I disconnect the battery before the repair. When putting everything back together I plugged in the LCD and digitizer cables, then the battery, and then the front camera assembly. That seemed to work for me on a 5c repair but not on the 5s. On the 5s I had the replace the camera assembly.

Still not sure why this happens. Good luck!

How do you attach a new copper shielding grounding tape to the new IPHONE 5C Proximity Light Sensor + Front Camera Flex Cable? I can't find a video on that anywhere!
