Hey,
I bought some new RAM memory and when putting it together I accidently cut a grey flat wire inside the left RAM slot.
Now my computer won't start. What does the grey wire do? How can I solve it?
HELP please!

There should not be any wire to cut in this slot. My suggestion would be to take it to a professional to have it looked at. Barring that, here is a guide to get to the logic board: MacBook Core 2 Duo Logic Board Replacement
I would open it up and see if I could find where the wire comes from. Take a picture of the damage and post it to your question so we can try to determine what it is and how to fix it.

The only cable routed atop the left RAM slot is the left speaker cable. Even when cut it's hard to imagine how that could prevent the computer to start. But thats rather black and round. If the cable was silverish than i suppose its a poorly routed topcase cable. Take off the topcase using the instructions mayer stated and look if everything is fine.

Grey cable.. how thick is it?
Also, try putting in your old RAM in case your computer doesn't start up because of the new RAM is defective
The grey cable could be an antenna?

Don't think so. Airport and bluetooth antennas route way away from the RAM slots at the back of the computer.

It's now at Mac Support for some treatment.
They didn't really now what the grey wire was but will take a look at it. Strange.
Gabe, the wire looks like the kind of string you wrap around gifts.
