Juice spilled on top while running

Hello,

I accidentally spilled a glass of schweppes last night on my laptop. I didn't shut it down immediately because I was busy pulling out all my power sockets out (didn't want to fry the whole houses power grid). It took 1 minute after which the laptop restarted 2 times and went black. It wont start but the charger switches to charging mode because at that time the battery was not fully charged.

At the moment it is sitting on a bed of rice to soak up the condensation. I cleaned it thoroughly and tried to blow out any liquid from the back and side holes. If if manage to open it I consider cleaning it with an aerosol like WL-400 Kontakt as i did it with other desktops and electronics I cleaned in the past. What could be the outcome? Worst case scenario could I send it to be stripped for parts?

PS. I'm outside the US, Romania to be speciffic and it is a US keboard model.

Blowing air through it was a bad move… you pushed wet from where it was to where it wasn't. You should open it up and remove the battery ASAP current increases corrosion and damage. There's corrosive in soda - the logic board really should be removed, wet areas cleaned with soft brushes, deionized water & better than 90% alcohol followed by rice dry.

Look at the tags at the right for what you can do/must do to see if the damage is permanent.

I ended up giving it to a HW repair center in the vicinity of my office building. As for removing the battery it's not an option because it's is an unibody with unremovable battery and I don't have any Pentalobe bits in my kit beacuse the aren't that common :(

The repair service should have all the tools… I hope that the damage was not too severe… and you're right to realize not every repair can be a DIY repair.
