Installing OSX Lion on new hybrid drive (HD/SSD)?

I've got a Mid 2009 Model A1278 2.26 GHz Core 2 Duo processor Macbook Pro and I installed OS-X Lion when it came out by using a USB and following directions I didn't quite understand.

I'm looking into upgrading my hard drive (which is currently the standard one that came with the laptop) to a hybrid drive, possibly this one: [produto vinculado ausente ou desativado: IF107-098]

But, I'm not quite sure how the installation process works with transferring data and installing OSX and such. I know that I have to make a copy of the data on my current hard drive and store it on an external, then install the new hard drive and transfer that data. But I think I also have to install OSX onto the new hard drive, and I'm wondering how that will work when Lion didn't originally come on the device when I bought it.

I'm not very familiar with all of this stuff and am not sure about the order of the whole installation process. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The drive kit comes with all of the needs stuff to connect your new drive externally via USB. Once you do this you can then prep the drive using your current HD's copy of OS installer (or the USB thumb drive).

Once the OS is setup on the external you can then use your Time Machine backup to restore to it all of your stuff if you have that setup. Otherwise you can use software to clone your current HD files to the new drive. Lastly, you could use Apples Migration Assistant but you'll need to have a second Mac to host the new drive. The advantage on using Migration Assistant is its' fast and can be used across FireWire, Ethernet or even WiFi.

Before you order the drive make sure it is compatible with your system or can be adjusted. Your system currently has a SATA II (3.0 Gb/s) HD and the I/O speed of the system is limited to 3.0 Gb/s. Using a SATA III (6.0 Gb/s) drive may require altering the I/O speed to a lower speed that is compatible with your system. I would strongly recommend verifying with IFIXIT sales this drive will work in your system.
