Water damage, will not charge

I dropped my iPhone 4 in water. Took it apart and dried it out the best I could. Plugged it in but the battery charging screen with red indicator came on and the phone wouldn't charge after being plugged in all night. Replaced the battery and the phone worked... Until the battery died. Wont recharge.

The phone recognizes the charger because when plugged in, I see the plug icon over the battery indicator. But it doesn't actually charge the phone. Any thoughts? Hoping to make it another month for the new iphone.

It sounds like a battery charging circuit inside the phone has been damaged. I do not know how to fix this, maybe just buy a cheap flip phone (~$5) to use in emergencies.

Mark, sounds like a bad charging coil. Visually inspect the components and use a multimeter to check for function.

my iphone 4 does the same exact thing and cannot be detected by itunes :P even with new charging dock but it will charge if you shut the phone off when it is plugged in atleast for me
