already dismantled the airport passed clean contact on flex cable and the card itself, but it did not work

tested the bluetooth works perfectly.

what should I do? buy a new airport? I recently bought on ebay but as I live in Brazil shipping time takes about 20 to 30 days

my macbook air 1237 detects bluetooth in setting but does NOT recognise wifi software/hardware and does not show in menu bar??

por

Sounds like you have damaged hardware. Did you spill or drop to cause this?

por

Try an SMC and PRAM reset. Solved this problem for me with a 2012 MacBook Air 11-inch that suddenly lost its wifi in exactly the same way.

por

Hey Bob... you are a life saver. SMC did not work but PRAM reset solved this problem for me. I was about to abandon my machine altogether. You are a life saver.

por

Hi Bob, Just tried the PRAM reset, no idea what it means or does but it looks like it has fixed the problem! Anyone else done this an can report 6 months later issue has not re occurred? Great post thanks!

Solução escolhida

Had the same problem with my mid 2009 Macbook Pro 13 inch running Mountain Lion. Temporarily (appears to have worked, issue may return in a few days, hopefully not) fixed it by doing this:

1. Make sure "restart programs" when logging in is NOT checked. See here: http://macnerd-presents.blogspot.com/201...

2. Rebooted and held down "command + s" to go into single user mode and run /sbin/fsck -fy and if you see "disk modified" at the end, run again until you see "your disk is ok" For more info see here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1417

3. Reboot and log in and see if the wifi is showing ok. If not, go into System Preferences and Network and add a new wifi connection using the default naming conventions. See here for more info: http://www.chriswrites.com/2012/05/how-t...

Good Luck.

Carlos.

I know this is a really old post but I just had to comment: THANK YOU! This worked perfectly and fixed my WiFi problem :)

I want to say thank you very much for the tip, I had already sent my machine to a service of Mac and charged me $ 67 and I do the same thing happened again. Suspiciously investigate and take four days watching forums thousand steps and only this has worked for me. thanks, again!

por

I never would have guessed that a fsck would recover the device. I went so far as to snag a card from another defunct laptop, but the fsck -y is what did the trick. Thanks!

por

Works. Thanks!

por

Big THANK YOU. I took it to Apple "Genius" bar and logged bugreport on apple.com but they were unable to help. But step 2 did the trick in your solution.

As a workaround you can use a USB wireless dongle (just be certain the one you buy supports use on a Mac or you'll have driver problems). It is also possible to purchase a USB ethernet cable dongle (if you can work at a place that has a hard cable connection) while you're waiting for your part to arrive.

Alternatively I use usb 3g

my only fear is defective logic board

as just a wifi card can not believe having problems on the logic board.

because the bluetooth works perfectly.

what is your opinion about it?

will I succeed to replace the wireless airport?

thanks for your reply!

This happened to me on my 2009 MacBook Pro, I tried all the software fixes to no avail.

No WiFi Hardware Installed, Very frustrating, If you have a range of screwdrivers available and wish to

I decided to open up my MacBook Pro and investigate myself, if the problem was related to the Airport card,

On inspection after removing the screen to get to the area where the Wi-Fi card is housed, underneath the black plastic clutch cover, I simply resitted the cable where it connects to the WiFi card, I then had to re connect the airport card cable on the motherboard and the display connector and battery , before putting it all back together, I then powered up the laptop and instantly I had WiFi again.

There is a excellent video tutorial available on youtube:

Good Luck.

I would love to do this, but the MacBook Air has the star shape screws, and sadly I don't have that kind of screwdriver.

Hi everybody! After a many tests (I changed the airport board, airport cable and wifi antenna, SMC and PRAM reset, bluetooh turn on/off and restart) and nothing worked!!! The last cause that I think is the mainboard problem! Ok, before to change the mainboard I try downgrade OSX to Mavericks a usb boot in a fresh install and..... Voilà de the wifi back before the installation!!!! In the initial Mavericks screen installation (usb mavericks boot+option hold and power). I finished the installation and the wifi works perfectly!!! The problem is the Yoshemite incompability with A1304!!!!!!!

por

Bad news, the problem back again!!! I replace the mainboard and the problem gone!!! The problem is in the mainboard!

por

Most problem is WiFi chip broken.

This solution worked for me. A bit more advance because of the SMD work but can save you $$$.

My wifi would not turn on and the "turn on wifi" in network preferences wouldn't work. The computer says no hardware present. This is a 2013 Macbook air. I took it to the store and they ran diagnostics and said it was working fine. I drove home to the same problem. I bought the screw driver set on amazon to open the computer case. I found the two cables on the end of the wifi card have snap on connection to the board. One was loose and upon inspecting it I found the outside of the snap on connector was a little out of shape so it did not snap on as tightly as the other connector. I carefully bent it back out and snapped in back on and found it to be tighter and that was the fix after having wifi intermittently going out for the last few months. The computer had never been opened before so it must have been bent slightly during the original build of this computer and it finally loosened enough to lose connection.

Buy the screw driver and open it up and take a careful look with a magnifying glass.

Hi,

i have the same problem with my MBP 15" Early 2011, the airport Bluetooth is functional but not the Wi-fi.

The Wifi Icon indicates hardware not installed.

I have tried everything, Clean install, change hardware with airport cart and Antenna and the procedure outlined earlier in this page.

Nothing works, i hesitate to change the flex cable Airport but I would like to be sure that this is before ordering the piece.

please, help me.

Finally I found what did not work after changing the Airport card and the Wifi antenna. It is in reality Airport / Bluetooth Cable that was defective!

Hello! I just wanted to add something quickly. I've spilled some water on my macbook air mouse pad and wifi stopped working, it said "no hardware installed". I tried to do PRAM, nothing helped - I must've actually damaged the wifi card inside. I was considering getting a new macbook or getting it fixed (but then I was a bit worried it would take long and I could lose my data). In the end I found a perfect solution - I got a wifi dongle (extension) - you plug it in an usb port and it looks like a small pendrive. Now I can connect to the internet through it and I only spent £16 instead of £300 for fixing the thing. You can consider this solution!

Hello,

I'm having the same problem, sometimes it appears that it has no hardware installed, sometimes the turn on option is locked, and sometimes it works normally.

But when it "works" I'm using it and out of nowhere it locks the mac, sometimes it turns itself off and when I try to start loading, needing all the time I'm restarting it works again, but I use a certain amount of time and it hangs again if What happened to you?
