Why isn't my 1998 furby working when I put new batteries in?

To fix the corrosion, get a liquid called rubbing alcohol and a q-tip.tip the q-tip in the a alcohol, and brush it on the corrosion

My Furby won't come on and some battery terminals are corroded how to fix I love my Furby please help

For battery corrosion :

Depending on how bad the corrosion is . Take about 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda . Plus a drop or two of water & make a paste. Don't make it too thick or to thin. But thinner is easier to put on then thick. Take a Q-tip & rub it all over the inside of furby,s battery compartment. Rub it all over real good . Now let it dry. Now take a old tooth brush and brush the baking soda out. A little bit of residue left won't hurt . Just make sure that the little metal battery,s are residue free .Battery needs to have a good cotact. Now that should do the trick. Unless it went on to long then you might have to do Furby surgery to make sure that everyting is still all conected on the inside where the battery wires come out of the battery box. But try this first if it doesn't work get back with.

Will somone out there please help me ,my toy Furby I can hear the motor hum but nothing happens, I’m at my wits to get it going, I have tried some things, but maybe I missed something. Hi Olivia, I am the one that wrote the fixit link. I am more keen on the older furby,s . At some point the manufacturer changed them on the inside . I have 1 thats newer then a 98 . Not sure how much newer but newer. I had gotten it so mine would have a friend to talk to. Plus I wanted to see how they learn from each other. Not sure if thats true , had just heard it from someone. I had bought mine used at a yard sale . The person had no batteries said it worked . I figured even if it didn't , I had fixed mine I could this one. I wasn't so lucky. There alot different on the inside.

First thing I did was new good batteries like Durrcel or ones like them. Cheaper batteries don't seem to do well in furby,s. No luck, so them I tried some light weight grease. Something like the kind they use in a sewing machine. But unlike the older furby,s were you can sometimes gently wiggle the gears free the newer ones you cant. Or I should say I could not. Did not want to try to hard & break a tooth on a gear since they are plastic. I assume that maybe the manufacturer might have change them because customers did figure out how to fix them which cuts into sales . But I could be wrong . As far as were the batteries connect . Baking soda and vinegar and a tooth brush is the best thing if there is corrosion. And as far as using tin foil on the main board hopefully you didn't short anything out. Its very easy to do. Have you tried smelling the board to see if any thing smells burnt. Sometimes just because it looks fine doesn't mean it is . Sorry I couldn't help you more . Clean the corrosion with rubbing alcohol and a q-tip. Leave the battery's in overnight, it sometimes takes a while for furby to warm up. And try resting the furby by using a paperclip in the reset button and holding down the tongue sensor while doing it. If you don’t want to take it apart you could try spinning the motor through its beak. Seen in photo:

One of the batteries may be dead; you could try putting brand new batteries in.

Well actually none of these worked for mine but me and my brother have found out that some of the wires to this furby had been fried due to probably because of the way it was talking ( way too fast!) so what my brother and me have to do is also find the problem within the circuit board. I recommend looking for those type of furby fixing videos but to let u know most wont work.( i tried) but after all this im sure my furby will work again
