dropped in water now my battery runs out quickly

I dropped my phone in water last week. I dried it out with compressed air and put it in rice over night. Everything works fine with the exception that the battery runs out a lot quicker now. I'm wondering if I just need to replace the battery or if it is something else. Any help would be appreciated.

I have the exact same situation with my 4S. It won't turn off and battery discharges very quickly after a 10 second submersion in water and 24 hour rice pack treatment.

did you change the battery yet?

No, haven't changed the battery. Doesn't appear that changing battery helped Keith Harris. Wondering if it's the dock connector that needs replacement. Keith - were you able to get the issue fixed eventually?

por

I'd start with the battery, then the dock connector, then the charging circuitry (coil and IC) on your logic board. It may not have helped Keith Harris, but he started with it for a proper trouble shooting.

keith harris, the first thing I suggest is that you disassemble the phone using these guides. Then clean the phone with +90% isopropyl alcohol. Use this guide to clean it. After you have everything properly cleaned, replace the battery Reassemble your phone and re-evaluate. If you do not clean your phone, you could get corrosion failure later on compressed air and Rice do not prevent corrosion. Hope this helps, good luck.

Thanks for your help, the guide was awesome. I did all that was said with the isopropyl alcohol and replaced the battery. There was no corrosion or discoloration what-so-ever. But none of this seemed to correct the problem. My battery still dies super fast like it did with the old battery after I dropped it in water. One other problem that may be attributing to the problem is my phone won't turn off. I've read that this is related to a bad dock connector but I don't see how that would effect my battery life. Should I replace it? Again any help would be greatly appreciated.

It would not hurt to replace it. After that see what it does. I wonder if you are having issues with the power flex.

I have the Same problem, my iPhone 5s is slightly water damaged and I've tried replacing the battery but when I charge it, it charges fine, at 6pm it says 100% I then leave it off with no apps running and at 7 am it's 31%. Also I have my phone on for 3hours and for the majority of that time I was listening to music and it drained 13%, it doesn't seem a lot but my old iPhone 4s' battery was by far better had battery.
