Computer won't turn on after replacing display.

I recently purchased a replacement screen for my PowerBook, and followed the instructions on this website. After completing what seemed to be a successful installation, I attempted to reboot the machine, but nothing turns on. I double checked the battery had power, and plugged in the AC adapter as well. I've also gone back and repeated the screen replacement (without actually replacing the new screen), but nothing seems to work. Does anyone know what could cause this problem?

Thanks for any help.

Steve

Double check the trackpad ribbon connection to the logic board. If the connector is not well inserted in the socket there will be no activity when pushing the power button. Reseat the connector in the socket an apply a tape on it to secure the connector to the logic board.

Thanks for your response. I've checked that many times, but it doesn't seem to be the issue. Do you know if there's a way to turn the machine on other than the power button? Thanks

Yes, check on the logic board near the trackpad socket (if i remember well) you should see two solder pads and an inscription "Power button" or "PWR". Use a jeweler small flat screwdriver and bridge the two contacts. The PB should start and boot.

Just tried bridging the solder pads and nothing happened. Is there something I'm not doing right? Or is there any other possible explanation? Thanks again.

Never mind, I was bridging the pads the wrong way. Sure enough, when I bridged them vertically, it started right up! Once that happened, I plugged in the trackpad ribbon to the logic board, and all keys (including trackpad and trackpad button work). The only button that does not work is the power button. How do you suppose I fix this? Thanks for all your help!

Not sure if you can replace the power switch maybe you'll have to buy a used top case without keyboard off ebay and install your keyboard on the "new" top case. Check if there's a way to remove the power switch, I really don't remember if it can be done.

I am having the same problem and i found the two solder pads "Power Button" but what do you mean by bridging them "vertically". I tried to simply bridge them by laying a little screw driver between the two but nothing happens ? Can you explain how you did it ? thanks

Update

Ok found it (as usual, just after posting a message). I was doing it the right way but without the battery present. Plug it in, bridge and … boooinnnng, the welcome boot sound
