Reluctant To Boot, Or Show Video.

Hi, I've had my mac mini since late October 09' and after a month or two, it started acting up. It might boot to a grey screen, then after about 15 minutes, decide to actualy boot up, or it might have a blank screen, until the Operating system reaches the login window. With either Snow Leopard, or Windows 7, it still acts does the same thing. On some occasions, it refuses to boot at all. Sometimes the only way to get video after waking it from sleep is to unplug the video adaptor and plug it back in. No matter what port is is using (Mini-DVI, or Mini-DisplayPort) the symptoms remain the same. Resetting the PMU, and the PRAM didn't work either. I have tried different keyboards, adaptors, everything. It should still be under warrenty, should i take it to the apple store and see if they can do somthing, or should I continue to troubleshoot this? Any suggustions? Perhaps a bad logic board? I also have the latest version of boot camp (3.1) and updated to the latest firmware. Also, sometimes, during use, the video will randomly drop out, and come back on repeatedly.

System Specs:

2.0Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo

4GB PC3-8500 DDR3 (Tried Removing Extra RAM back to 1GB)

120GB Hard Drive

BootCamp Partition, and Mac OS X Partition

Mini DisplayPort-to-VGA Adaptor

Mini DVI-to-DVI adaptor

1.3 Mac Mini Firmware

If its under warranty I let have Apple look at it. Ralph

Sounds like a bad hard drive. Return to Apple. Consider taking out AppleCare to extend your warranty.

These minis are a pain to open and work with. Internally they are basically a laptop folded up in a box. Tiny, tiny connectors. If at all practical, let someone else do it.

Try verifying the drive

Run

Applications->Utilities->Disk Utility;Disk First Aid-Repair Disk and Repair Permissions If there's disk errors it will report (some) of them... likewise if there are permission errors.

Sometimes corrupt .plist files can cause strange behavior. If you make a new account and the problems go away there's your trouble.

If this answer is acceptable please remember to return and mark it.

Good Luck,
