Installed a second hard drive, why can't the computer detect it?
I recently purchased the late 2012 Mac Mini with the intention of adding a second hard drive to it. I took an old OWC Extreme 6G 120gb SSD from my tower and was able to install it into the Mac mini (following the iFixit guide and purchasing the data doubler) relatively without incident. Computer booted back up, but the drive is not being recognized anywhere. It doesn't show up in Disk Utility or anything. The SSD is recognized fine by my tower when I put it back in to test, however.
Any thoughts? Thanks for your help.

What kind of tower do you mean here, Windows or Mac? Do you have an external Firewire or USB case/cable that can house your SSD to test it out?

Hello Dan, my tower is a Mac Pro 2010. It had 2 SSDs running so I took one for the Mac Mini. It seems to work fine when I put it back into the tower. I will try again with a USB hard drive enclosure and report back. Thanks for your help.

Alright, I placed the SSD into an enclosure and hooked it up via USB, and it worked! So, I guess it's not a problem with the drive. Could it possibly be the SATA cable that is messed up? It was a brand new one that came with the data doubler kit from OWC.
