Green light is always on charger after water damage. how to repair?

How do i find out what parts are wrong in my computer after water damage. Green light is on always as if charging but it won't power on. Also is not giving power to the battery. The battery remains at same level all the time and is not charging. Can it be the logic board or magsafe board? How can i test these 2 boards and find out which is out of service? The magsafe board seems to be getting power because i feel it warm but i don't know for sure if this is the problem that needs to be replaced. The accident happened as a glass of water fell and water sneaked through back vents while computer was closed. I opened computer and it had shut down. It came on once but then it shut down again and never turned on. Let me know what to do and diagnose the issue so i know what part needs to be fixed.

Ok thanks for your advice. I will try purchasing a magsafe board and see if that is the problem before i purchase a logic board. How much is a magsafe board approximately? Where can i find it?

Have you opened the computer and examined the board to see if there is any visible corrosion you can clean off with rubbing alcohol?

Also, try disconnecting the topcase entirely and jump the power by triggering the board's power-on pads. It may be that the topcase has gotten fried and it is not capable of powering on the machine. If you can power it on via the power-on pads, you know the topcase is bad. If you can't, you can then be pretty sure the topcase is not the problem.

Typically if the light on the AC adapter is solid green, the DC-in is not the problem. A bad DC-in would more likely have a dim light, an amber light, or no light at all.

There's no way to know for sure until you start replacing parts with known-good parts...but I would definitely first try the steps I mentioned above, because they may solve your problem or point you in a different direction.

Yes i did open the computer and cleaned the logic board and the magsafe board also lightly with rubbing alcohol. I unplugged both and did not see any corrosion visible. Now you are saying to disconnect the topcase? which one is the topcase? you mean the keyboard case? power on pads? I don't know which these are. Explain please.

The topcase is the entire top panel containing the keyboard and trackpad. It is possible that if the topcase has sustained liquid damage, it is no longer capable of powering on the machine. "Power-on pads" are two tiny metal dots on the logic board right next to each other, usually marked "power button", which, when bridged with a metal object, trigger the same function as pressing the power button on the topcase. Therefore, if you disconnect the topcase and bridge the power-on pads, you are troubleshooting whether or not you have a good topcase. If the topcase is the problem, bridging the pads should power on the machine. If you disconnect the topcase and bridging the pads does not power on the machine, you know the topcase is not likely the issue, and you're probably looking at a bad board or DC-in. When troubleshooting, it's always necessary to rule out extraneous components, and this procedure allows you to rule out the topcase. The pads are in different locations based on the machine's model number, and it's best to look for them with a flashlight.

I am looking but can't find power pads. I got model number A1150 Macbook Pro 2007 2.0ghz. Where do you think power pads would be on this computer. Maybe that is the solution i hope. Thanks.

thanks for the link but i don't think he is referring to a macbook pro A1150 model. I think all models power pads are in different locations. I am still searching but don't see anything. They have to be somewhere. Above center my hardrive is the magsafe board. I don't think this is it. It has to be on the logic board.

I would test out with a known good Magsafe board. They are cheap online and it may be worth a shot. But from what you are saying, it's most likely the logic board that needs to be replaced/repaired. But it can't hurt to give the magsafe a try, maybe you have a friend with the same computer/computer that uses the same magsafe board. Best of luck.
