converting to intel, and 10.5 / 6

Hey,

I bought a g4 quicksilver hoping i could develop iPhone apps on it.

I have just found out i can't use x-code.

I would like to know if there any mother boards and or conversion kits i could get to solve my problem??

Actually, not, it contains an answer to the question, as well as details. Now are you going to reverse that downvote or is a good samaritan going to have to?

Here are Apple's System requirements for 10.5:

Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard requires:

A Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or Power PC G4 (867 MHz or faster) processor

512 MB memory or more

A DVD drive for installation

9 GB of available disk space or more

Some features require a compatible Internet service provider, fees may apply.

Some features require Apple's MobileMe service; fees apply.

10.6 will not install without a Intel processor.

not even if i was willing to change mother board?

Its not the OS I care about (really) I just wanna run x-code.

The current 10.6 version of XCODE requires Intel and I know of no upgrade to manage this on your current G4 machine. Sorry but Apple would like you to buy new Intel Mac.

The cheapest way to get an intel processor is with a Mini Mac, obviously you already have an external monitor.

I know it's been awhile since the questions was ask, but you can make a "Hackintosh" out of the PowerMac by switching almost all of the parts out. It's a heavy undertaking, but if you're looking for a project, it can be done. Google search "PowerMac Hackintosh", "G4 Hackintosh", "Quicksilver Hackintosh", etc. Also, check out TonyMac's website to see the technical details of making a Hackintosh. http://www.tonymacx86.com

Building a grounds up 'Hackintosh' is one thing for the fun of it. But, trying to use an old Power Mac G4 system case is not the ideal way as the cooling & RF needs are very different for the newer Intel chips. Besides the cost will be greater than buying a new Mac mini.

The cheapest option is to replace the motherboard. You could use the motherboard from a macbook, imac, mac pro. You can pick them of from ebay fairly cheaply, and you can buy used ones.
