Here are a few possible fixes:

1. Check the Batteries

The X-370 has an electronically controlled shutter, meaning dead or weak batteries can cause the shutter to stop working. Try replacing the two SR44, LR44, or equivalent 1.5V batteries and see if that helps.

2. Reset the Mirror & Shutter

Since the mirror flips up but doesn’t come down normally, the shutter may be stuck. Try this:

1. Remove the lens to see the mirror.

2. If the mirror is up, gently press it down with a soft tool (like a cotton swab).

3. Once the mirror is down, try pressing the shutter button again.

3. Engage and Disengage the Self-Timer

Sometimes, the self-timer gets stuck and prevents the shutter from firing. If your camera’s self-timer is engaged:

1. Wind it up and let it fully run down.

2. Then try pressing the shutter button.

4. Check the Film Advance Lever

If the lever moves but doesn’t engage the shutter, the internal mechanics may be misaligned.

Try slowly advancing the lever and pressing the shutter at different points to see if it engages.

5. Open the Bottom Plate (Last Resort)

If none of the above work, you may need to open the bottom cover (3 small screws) and inspect the mechanical linkages.

Sometimes, a spring or lever inside is stuck and can be gently nudged back into place.

If you see dirt or hardened grease, a tiny amount of lighter fluid or electronic contact cleaner can help.

If Nothing Works

The camera might need a CLA (clean, lube, adjust) from a professional repair shop. The X-370 is a solid camera, so it’s usually worth fixing if the issue isn’t too severe.
