Over the years battery technology has improved! The [product|IF323-056] is not as powerful as the [product|IF323-071]. So while the batteries do look similar iFixit Store does treat them as different batteries. Also note the 3rd gen battery is a few dollars cheaper!

I would stick with the correct battery.
