Does it allow you to bypass the error? This may not be anything that will affect your ability to use the computer. The TPM or Trusted Platform module isn’t inherently necessary for functionality (unless you’re running Windows 11) but it does store secure data like a Bitlocker Key if your drive is encrypted.
So strictly speaking you don’t ''need'' it. That doesn’t mean your computer might not throw a hissy fit if it expects there to be one, but it isn’t detected.
