Usually with the free phones these lifeline providers give you for free tend to not be the best things you can get. You’re usually better off buying an old flagship (1-2 generations old) factory unlocked (or unlocking it yourself) and bringing your own to these services, when you can do it. It will probably be fine for basic usage, but do not expect it to perform like a higher end device. I haven’t ever owned a lifeline phone (even used), but their performance tends to be similar to SIM locked (subsidized) prepaid phones from the big 3 (AT&T/T-Mobile/Verizon).
