A1419 late 2012 its compatible with M.2 NGFF SATA SSD like example “ KingSpec 1TB 2242 M.2 SSD NGFF “ only you get around 480 Mb\s due to the motherboard capabilities

A1419 late 2013 its compatible with M.2 Nvme + Adapter + your drive samsung 970 evo or adata 8200 pro. But only will work to around 900 Mb\s due to the motherboard capabilities.

Newer iMacs late 2015 can handle to 1500 Mb\s

2017 and 2019 you can get of course faster speed with your same drive.

Hi I have two iMac late 2013 i5 3.2 and late 2012 i7 3.4 both 27”. The late 2012 motherboard pcie pins are diferent than the late 2013, but you can buy an adapter for it. BUT you onlyNo it will get around 490mb\s same speed than an internal ssd. For late 2012 not worth it to buy NVME high speed + adapter. Better to install a normal ssd internally.

But for the late 2013 imac 27” you can buy NVME + adapter and get speed to 900 mb\s that can worth the effort.
be compatible
