The 18650 Li-ion is becoming  very common and can be purchased even at Walmart.  However be sure to buy them with the proper terminal for your use.  The standard ‘D’ or ‘AA’ ends that fit into a holder like a flashlight or TV remote shold not be used in a tool that requires a ‘tab’ on the battery for soldering to a wire.
