Is yours a chain stitch machine like the one pictured, or does it have a bobbin beneath the plate as well as a bobbin in the top?

I wrote up all I know about sewing machines at https://wiki.restarters.net/Sewing_machines - perhaps the tension is wrong, or the needle is bent, or the timing is out.
