-Do not do this update! I had my iMac a1311 emc 2428 with the i7 2600 from i5 2400s for two days. Because of this update the iMac was in kernel panics every 5 minutes or so. The 30W difference is unbearable for the power phase design of the logic board that this iMac have regardless if your power supply can handle the power consumption on paper. Even with the fans with max rpm the CPU still reaches easily 71°C which results in a panic moments later. Also the max temp for an i7 2600 according to Intel is 72.6°C. I have many CPU swaps in my past. Even if your machine is able to handle this update for some reason you risk burning a CPU, a logic board, a PSU or a combination of these in the long run. Do not do this update!
