Hello there! I have a wool hat that is very precious to me, but lately it has encountered some misfortune. I accidentally put it in the washing machine, not noticing that it was tangled in some other clothes. Still not noticing it, I proceeded to put it in my tumble dryer. When I took my clothes out, I noticed the hat, and it had shriveled to fit an 18 inch doll. The wool had felted. I put it in a bowl of water and hair conditioner to see if I could soften the fabric so I could stretch it out. I left in in there for a few hours, and when I came back, I tried to stretch out the tassel on one of the ear flaps to test how the conditioner was working, but when I yanked it came off. I looked down into the water, and to my surprise the hat had started to dissolve. I'm leaving it in the conditioner overnight because I think if I pick the hat up it might fall apart. The wool is alpaca wool. My mother spent a while to make this hat and it used to be of high quality before this incident. Please tell me how to fix it quickly. Is it still salvageable?
