I, too, have this problem, with a DMC-TZ40 I bought back in August of 2013. I have a leather case in which I always carry the camera. -- The issue has been causing quite a pain for at least two years now, and I have already lost several recordings on that account: Unaware that the camera has already started recording, I press the record button when I intend to start recording, then press it again when I intend to stop recording. That way I get a blurred recording of the focusing phase prior to when I actually intended to start recording, and a nice clear recording of my feet from after I intended to stop recording!! I know I could look for the blinking red on-screen recording indcator, but my eyesight is not perfect, and I forget being aware of whether the blinking red dot is there or not.

I have found no solution the problem, and this is primarily intended as a contribution towards the documentation of the problem.

However, any suggested solution would be welcome.
