If you are talking about the outer top case, use the maintenance manual [http://static.highspeedbackbone.net/pdf/Lenovo%20ThinkPad%20Edge%20Hardware%20Maintenance%20Manual.pdf|from here] (page 100) to remove the complete assembly and use the prior guide to exchange the LCD and other pieces into the new top cover.
