Nexus keeps trying to start shows the google start up and then nothin

Hi everyone, my nexus keeps trying to start then gets up to the google screen and then just keeps trying to get past that point but cant.... Is this a sign the battery is knackered? It does still charge tho so not sure if a virus has buggered it or what??? Any help would be appreciated Cheers Ally
