RemoveFor three blinks: Remove battery for few mints and reinsert it. During boot process press shift+ctrl+alt. It worked in my laptop (cq40) many a times. Although it is not my idea. I read it somewhere (can't recall). But it worked. Just removing battery and pressing any other buttons did not work in my laptop.

For four blinks: I removed RAM and inserted it again. Laptop started.
