This is a 100% possible fix and can be done at home with very little spent in tools if you already have basic tools. This is not easy but if you are relatively comfortable with doing this type of work than you should definitely try it. You can separate the glass from the digitizer using some super thin (0.10mm) high tensile strength gold cutting wire. There is videos on YouTube showing the procedure but important is keeping the pressure towards the glass, not the digitizer, and taking your time. When you buy a new screen and digitizer, it is a 90% chance what you are actually buying is a refurbished display that someone else has done this same procedure to. After removing the cracked screen from the digitizer and cleaning off the old glue, you can bond the new screen on using LOCA glue and UV light. I use the same light that is used for doing nails in a beauty salon. you can pick one up for about 25-30 dollars on amazon. Then you can either keep it in your tool-set or give it to your wife/girlfriend to do her nails. I suggest trying this fix your self, with the tools it will cost you about $40... worst that happens is you ruin your digitizer, in which case you have to buy a new display for about $200, which is what you would of spent anyway if you didn't attempt it. I say it is well worth the knowledge.

Specialized tools needed:

UV Light

LOCA Glue

0.10mm gold cutting wire

new screen

heat source(heat gun, heat plate. heat pad or bag like the one that iFixIt.com sells would work very well. for loosening adhesive)

glue or double sided glue tape for re-assembly
