iPhone X: Two rounded and stripped pentalobes

Hi you all, I have a question. I went ahead and went to do a screen replacement for myself. The problem begun with the pentalobes, i have an ifixit p2 screwdriver, and both of the screws i rounded off and now they are stuck in there. I do have access to the insides, as I went ahead and ripped the screen threads (still somehow working and all, writing from the screen rn) and went ahead thinking I could just get these out with my tweezers and buy different pentalobes to use, but once I had the screen off, i realised the screws wouldn’t get out. Any ideas?

iPhone X: Broken Rear Glass, Swapping The Full Housing?

I have an iPhone X, space grey, 256gb. I’m sure some others have the same problem I am having with replacing the rear glass. That being said, I know the easier way to fix this is swapping the full housing. I am looking into doing the project and found a site where they sell the full housing and everything is already mounted up. I guess it’s a used iPhone X and maybe the motherboard was messed up. If I buy this, are only my motherboard and Face ID sensors needed to be swapped over or are there other parts that will need to be swapped as well?

iPhone X: iPhone X Boot loop! Low battery then Apple Logo

I’m having issues with my iPhone X. When I try switch it on ordinarily, not plugged in or anything it shows the screen that prompts you to plug the phone in to charge. When plugged in the phone goes to the screen which shows the iphone is plugged in but low charge. It then displays the apple logo for about 5 seconds, then goes black, then goes to the low charge screen again. It keeps repeating this no matter how long its on charge for.

I’ve tried putting the phone into DFU mode by pressing the volume up bottom, then the volume down button then the power button it then goes to the restore screen where it asks to plug it into itunes. Itunes doesn’t detect the phone at all, was expecting it to prompt me to restore and update like it normal does.

Have been thinking about replacing the battery to see if that’s the issue as it doesn’t seem to be taking charge at all

Any help would be massively appreciated

Update (09/22/2019)

Hi everyone, the situation has now advanced in a good way! I disconnected the battery, disconnected the screen and then connected the battery back up. Pressed up, then down then held the sleep key and to be shock it detected the phone!

From here I restored the phone and updated to IOS 13. I’ve now got to the welcome stage of the phone on iTunes however when I connect the screen back up it goes back into a boot loop!

The screen appears to be the issue here I recon. Should I just get a new screen? I’ve checked the connections on the motherboard and they seem okay no visible damage or dust in there. Not too sure what to do

iPhone X: iPhone Bootlooping while only when earpiece is plugged in

Hi, I’ve been doing repairs on phones and tablets for a while now (mainly screen replacements and such) but this is my personal device.

So I dropped my iPhone X in the sink. No big deal, I’ve done it a few times before and nothing has come of it. It’s IP67 rating, so it should’ve been fine. I understand now that the gasket wears out over time, but hindsight is 20/20.

A little while after I dried my iPhone off (it was still working perfectly), I put it in my pocket and forgot about it for a few hours. I take it out of my pocket to find that it was bootlooping.

I’ve looked all over online to see what the cause of this was, and I decided to open up my iPhone. The insides looked fine. There was a little condensation on the rear camera glass, but nothing major. I decide to try to boot the phone without the earpiece assembly plugged in, and it worked!

Great, I thought. I’ll just replace the assembly and all should be well. Then I look up how much it is, and see a note at the bottom of the page.

“The Earpiece Speaker and Sensor Assembly is paired to the logic board in an iPhone X. This assembly contains the flood illuminator, which is part of the Face ID security feature. Replacing this assembly will not restore Face ID functions. “

Now I feel like garbage. This is my personal phone, I’ve only had it for about a year, and my dreams of just replacing a part to get it like new again is gone.

Now for the questions. I understand that the earpiece assembly is paired to the logic board. Is there any way whatsoever to spoof the pairing of the two?

I didn’t find any visible damage on the assembly itself, not even the ribbon cable. But the connector on the logic board looks like it has a few dark spots on the top right few pins. Is there any way of cleaning the logic board up and possibly getting it to work?

Should I just cut my losses, lose face id, and just replace the assembly?

Should I just take the assembly out and lose the ability to use the speaker and have the iPhone adjust brightness levels automatically? Also along with face id?

In other words, I’m just looking for suggestions on what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

iPhone X: Why does my phone not finish Extracting Software on iTunes?

So my phone has been stuck in Recovery Mode for quite some time. But every time I open iTunes and try to go through the process where I can Update or Restore, my serial number suddenly becomes unreadable or 'non-applicable' and the entire buffering stops. In fact, it buffers to the very end with 'Downloading Firmware' and seems as though it has an inch left. What would be the reasons behind this, such as why it can't extract the software. Has my phone slipped into a state where iTunes can't read it? Thanks a lot for those who answer!

iPhone X: Face ID can not be activated after soldering i2C flex cable

Hello guys, I would like to get some help with a strange issue that I came across.

I have repaired an iPhone 11 and 11 Pro with FaceID issue. I will go through the process step by step. First I attached the original FaceID flex to the i2C programmer and read its values. After that I connected the new i2C and wrote the original flex values. Then I desoldered the chip from the flex, removed the mosfet and did the neccessary jumper. After that I soldered the chip to the new flex and attached it to the i2C programmer. The test showed pass, I also checked under camera and all 4 spots of the projector light up correctly. Being happy that I did a good job I assembled back everything and started the phone. Now I am greeted with a “FaceID can not be activated on this device” message. I was thinking maybe my flex is bad so I took a new i2C, copy and write the data, desolder the chip and resolder. Assembled back everything and the error still pops up. I thought okay lets solder the chip back to the original flex. Now the error is gone but ofcourse FaceID doesnt work. I have the same issue with an iPhone 11 and an iPhone 11 Pro. What do you think, what could be the issue? I did around 25 repairs before without any issues.
