iPhone X: iPhone X constantly restarts then battery shows 0%!

I have recently updated to iOS 12.3.1 last week and during the past 2 days, my phone has been restarting, then the battery would show that it is at 1% on the status bar and 0% on the wake screen. There is even that lag usually when the battery drops to 1% which is normal for the X and 8 I believe. If I keep using the phone or charge, it will either reset again or the battery would jump up to where it normally is. The battery percentage wont go to 2% if I keep it charging because 1% is not the actual percent left. The only thing I can think of is installing the update with just under 50% battery. I have reset all settings and once that did not work, I have restored the phone from a previous date. Any assistance or tips is appreciated before bringing in to repair or even replace the battery.

iPhone X: How to tell iPhone X apart from XS?

Just wanting to ask if anyone knows how to tell the physical difference between the iPhone X and the XS? I have a repair business and as far as I can tell they look exactly the same from the outside. I know that you can look in settings under settings, general and then about but that doesn't help if the phone isn't functional. Is there an easy way to determine which model it is by looking at the phone from the outside?

iPhone X: Changed Screens, Face ID not working..

So i work at a repair shop and got given an iPhone X with a damaged screen, the face ID still worked on it fine though.

I also have my iPhone X with a perfect screen, Face ID working also..

Decided to swap screens because i was curious to see the inside and work on them.

Swapped screens and neither Face ID work, i straight swapped them without removing anything from either screens.

I Follow some google steps by resetting settings etc on the originally broken phone because mine is jailbroken but still not working. I move the screens back to the original phones and they both work fine with Face ID..

What causes this? Am i missing something?

iPhone X: iPhone X cameras and flashlight don't work after drop

My 1-year-old got a hold of my wife’s iPhone X and dropped it onto hard tile and now her front and rear cameras just show black and the flashlight will no longer turn on. It all was working before the drop. She has it in a case with a screen protector and it only fell from child standing height, so I’m not sure what could have rattled loose. We did try rebooting the phone a few times with no luck. Tonight I opened it up with my iFixIt kit, but I didn’t see anything obviously broken. The only sign of damage is a hairline crack on the rear camera module between the flash and the edge. I unplugged all the ribbon cables and re-seated them. The phone still boots up just fine and everything else works including FaceID, but still no cameras or flash. Could this be some other cable I’m missing that rattled loose, or maybe a crack in a PCB? I’m also wondering if a new rear camera module would fix it. Thanks for any thoughts.

iPhone X: Panic CPU x caller - Reboot every 3 minutes - Charging Port Flex?

I am looking for ideas to help fix a problem I’m having with an iPhone X. Bear with me while I describe the history, what I’ve done so far, and what the current symptoms are.

The customer said he had originally had the screen replaced at a mall kiosk and it worked well for a couple of months but one day it would not turn on. What I actually found was the phone was turning on but the screen had failed and was not turning on. I installed a new screen and all seemed well. I gave it back to the customer in seemingly 100% working condition. A few days later he brought it back to me and said it was rebooting every few minutes.

I tried forcing an update - no change, still rebooted after a few minutes.
I tried a DFU restore - no change, still rebooted after a few minutes.
I googled the issue and found numerous reports about issues with the charge port causing the phone to restart every 3 minutes. I checked and confirmed the phone would reboot after 3 minutes consistently. So I ordered a new charge port flex.
I first tried to temporarily disconnect the original flex in the phone and temporarily connect the new bare charge port flex. Voila, the phone stayed running beyond 3 minutes.
I disassembled the phone, removed the original charge port flex, reinstalled the new charge port and reassembled the phone. Initially the phone seemed to be fixed. But after several hours I noticed it starting to go back to the 3 minute reboot cycle again. Grr. Maybe I damaged it during installation I thought.
I ordered another new part and repeated step 4 and 5 but with greater care. Again, with the new part installed the phone seemed to fixed. This time I set the screen to stay on and started a stop watch. The phone stayed on for over 3 hours so I left it overnight.
In the morning, the phone was BACK TO RESTARTING every 3 minutes!!!
For fun I disconnected the 2nd new flex that was installed in the phone and connected one of the other charge ports that I had swapped out. With only the charge port by itself connected the phone still reboots. Conclusion - the flex is getting damaged somehow just by connecting it to the phone (my theory anyway).
Some posts on here suggested a DFU restore fixed this issue - in my case, it does not. Tried it. No difference.

I dug into the analytics logs and using 3U Tools see that every time it reboots it logs a “Panic CPU x caller” entry.

Here is the detailed text from one of these entries. Has anyone seen this? What can I try next? I’m hesitant to install a third charge port but do have one if need be.

iPhone X: My iPhone X got Water Damaged

My iPhone x got water damaged by failing in water

After the phone filled in the water, it was working fine but later on I found out that it did not accept charging anymore and I could not turn it on again

I don't know what my chances.

Are you guys able to fix this kind of issues?

iPhone X: Why does my phone rattle when it vibrates?

Every time I get a notification, I turn my ringer off, or I do anything that involves my phone vibrating, I get this weird rattle sound. It is very loud and annoying , I have to keep my ringer off 24/7 especially during school. I have looked up answers and people have said it is a loose screw or something of the matter. What should I do?

iPhone X: Glitchy screen after screen repair

About a week ago I replaced an iPhone X screen. Everything was working fine after the replacement. Two days later the screen started to glitch and just go black for a split second and go about life… The problem is still there and I’m not sure why. Can it be the screen is faulty maybe???

iPhone X: Used my iPhone X in the pool, now display wont work!

I have already tried rebooting it and what not but my display simply won't turn on. It just shows up as black. I already let my phone sit in a bag of rice overnight, anything I can do to fix this?

PS - the phone works, I can feel the vibrations when i tap the buttons in the lock screen.

iPhone X: Keranl panic no checkins from thermal sensor?

I’ve just completed a repair on a water-damaged iPhone X - everything seems fine except the phone is periodically rebooting (every 5 mins or so). Checking the device logs:

1 monitored services unavailable

com.apple.thermalmonitord unavailable (or words to that effect)

I assume from that there is a heat/thermal sensor in the phone that i’ve maybe not connected or another part that needs replaced. Any pointers to where that might be and what part I should try replacing?

iPhone X: Face ID not working after Earpiece Speaker/Sensor Assembly replacement

Hi all,

I had my iPhone X ear piece speaker stop working the other day. I bought a replacement Earpiece Speaker and Sensor Assembly for my model phone off of ifixit, and just replaced it today. After swapping it, turning the phone on, I got the message pop up saying “Unavailable to activate face ID on this phone”. I then go into my face ID settings, attempt to set it up, but then get the message “Face ID is not available, try setting up face ID later”. The ear speaker is now working fine, but face ID is not. I opened it back up, verified all the connections are good, re-seated all of them, checked the sensors, made sure they were all clean, no prints or dirt, but still no luck. Could the replacement I got have a bad sensor? Anybody have any other suggestions at all?

iPhone X: I got superglue on my camera lens

So I got superglue on my iPhone X rear camera.

I don’t think anything went inside the lens, but it’s extremely blurry when I try to take a picture.

Also, there is a tiny black hole on the lens, so I am wondering if there is a way to reach glue that went down there as well.

I’ve heard of using nail polish remover, but I am afraid of how that will react with the lens, possibly removing some sort of protective layer or something. I’m not entirely sure how the lens relates to the actual camera.

Is there a way to get rid of most, if not all, of the superglue without damaging the lens?

I believe that the glue was gorilla super glue.

iPhone X: Face id and selfie portret mode won't work

I have an iPhone X and it’s brand new (don’t asnwer with : send it to apple) it only worked 12 days and face id shows error “Face Id Is Not Avaible” and when i go to camera app and select Portrait Mode to take selfie with portrait it won’t open just get blury.

This has been ongoing for 2 months suddenly my front camera stopped working the front flash is also not working my Face ID does work and opens my phone my Rear camera and rear flash and flashlight are fine works fine. When i snapchat the rear camera wont even turn to the front camera like it doesn’t even recognise it as being there. I switch from rear camera to front i cant even press the shutter on it it just makes a vibration when i click the shutter icon i have gorilla glass on my iphone never dropped it or anything so i dont know whats wrong should i remove the glass and clean the main screen maybe? Heres a photo and video recording of my phone front camera screen does anybody have any suggestions? Hard resetted my phone updated latest ios didnt work help? It started in december

iPhone X: iPhone x keeps restarting even after taking it apart

Hi there

Today I had changed the back housing. After that the iphone starts to restarts every 3 minutes and noticed that there is heat below the camera, which obviously the motherboard.

I disassemble everything for testing, I just used the power button and the 3 LCD cables. But still keeps restarting. I come into the conclusion that it must be the motherboard.

Did I miss something here? I had reset the phone but didn’t fix the issue. I could not update the iphone to the latest update which was released last week I think due to the phone keeps restarting and didn’t let me update it.

iPhone X: Water damage repair cost or fix

I dropped my iphone x in water less then a foot, ever since my iphone has been stuck on the logo loop and has been stuck on dead, I have tried leaving it charged for a long time,rice, and the loop fix. I tried using iTunes to fix it but it can't detect the device. I do not have insurance on it so I'm looking to fix it.

iPhone X: Device Stuck In Recovery Mode

When I plug in the device it will turn on and almost immediately switch to the restore screen. When force restarting the device or turning off the device it will come back on and return to the recovery screen. Using software to exit the recovery screen results in the device boot looping. Ive tried the update and restore options only to be greeted with unknown error 4041. Letting the battery go dead and attempting to restore didn't have any yield either. The device wont enter the debug or dfu mode either.

I need some help. My iPhone restarts every few seconds when I unlock it. When it is locked it works all the time without rebooting.
