iPhone 7: Can't remove tri point 000 screws in iPhone with ifixit bit.

I'm having a difficult time removing the y000 screws in the iphone 7. I got this bit from ifixit. I don't feel like this bit is truly getting a good grip in the screw. I've stripped 2 of them on the home button. I need to remove the lcd plate and home buttom for a screen replacement. Are these bits not high quality bits? I've seen in other forums where they say it's crucial to have a quality bit or they'll strip easily. I managed to get one off but the others won't budge. I've had not issues with the phillips screws and easily got the camera off. Now I'm going to have to take this to a repair shop and ask them to remove these screws for me. I've tried using a rubber band and duct tape with no luck. Anyone have suggestions on a higher quality bit? I only have the y000 and y0 bits. Not the y00 so can't try the next largest bit.

iPhone 7: Microphone not working on iPhone 7. (Phone Calling and Siri)

So I have an iPhone 7, and it has never given me doubts until a few days ago.

Here's the story:

I rely on Siri a lot, asking questions like "What games are being played in the NBA tonight", and "Call (Person's name.) Just recently, when I open up Siri it does't let me talk or seem like it hears me. When I used to open Siri, at the bottom of my screen I would see the colorful, wavy line showing when I talk, but now it just shows me a colorful circle, and wont let me click it so it can hear me. I decided it was probably just a bug, and that restarting (holding down power button then turning back on) my phone would work. Now, I have done that multiple times, and it hasn't worked. I decided to just let it be, and I would talk to my dad about it that night.

But, later that day when I tried to call someone, I heard the ringing, but when they answered, I couldn't hear them and they couldn't hear me. They got the phone call, but still, we couldn't hear each other. When I told my dad about it later on, we tested the calling thing a few more times, always with the same result. (Happens with Android and Apple)

Upon further examination, I saw that when I called, I noticed that the speaker button was grayed/faded out. It wouldn't let me press speaker phone.

I also was curious if a "Hard Reboot" (holding the sleep button and the volume down button) would work, and all results were the same. Thanks for your time!

iPhone 7: All earphones not working even though chargers do

Hello there, I have an iPhone 7, with 128 GB. I haven't been paying it much attention recently, but I think it might be failing me somehow. It has about 35 GB of memory left, but its performance has been so bad the past few days. For instance, the camera often freezes, sometimes does not take a picture although everything looks like and feels like I've snapped one, the camera lags and freezes up when I try to switch camera, the Apple Maps suddenly stopped working - everything resulted in a 'No suggestions found' and walking navigation did not work as well (but it fixed itself a few hours later when all I did was surf some sites and watched 2 predownloaded episodes of Netflix). I thought it might be a memory issue as I have been travelling and I did not have time to backup all of my photos and videos (pretty sure it's the only thing taking up 80% of the memory) and I tried to use the 'iPhone Storage' function but it often freezes up or become unresponsive or when the screen goes black it just goes back to the home screen when I unlock it again.

The biggest problem that I wish to talk about is (I mentioned the above just in case someone knows if it's linked altogether or if I probably just need to get a new one or do a hard reset or something...)

So currently, my earphones/earbuds don't work. They are the ones issued along with the iPhone itself. I have 1 that came with this iPhone 7, which only has the lightning jack as well as my older one from my iPhone 5S or 6 (can't remember) as well as the audio jack to lightning adapter that came with this iPhone 7. Both of them do not work, and instead, the audio is played from the iPhone speakers when I plug any of the earbuds in. The earbuds do work as I have just tried them on a computer. The lightning dock does work as well as I managed to charge it through the wall last night, as well as from a portable charger while I am on the go.

Currently, I have only tried restarting the iPhones and hard restarting it. Also, trying to clear the lightning dock of debris (if any), as well as tracing both my audio cables to look for any breakage of sorts, but the older cable does work as I plugged it into another audio source. Any help would be really appreciated!

iPhone 7: iPhone 7 home button not working after disconnecting the battery

Has anyone else seen the iPhone 7 home button stop working after only disconnecting the battery?

At our shop we have been replacing screens on the iPhone 7 since December of last year. We have not had any problems with the home button becoming deactivated after a repair till about a month ago.

We started seeing a few cases where the phone button would not function after putting on the new screen. The phone would either not wake up from a black screen and only recognized it was being pressed when the screen was on. Then after entering the passcode it would not function at all. Sometimes it gives a messaging saying "iPhone home button needs servicing" and automatically activates the assistive touch. In other cases it just says the familiar "unable to active touch ID" like it has with all the older models with touch ID functionality. This may be related to which IOS it is on.

Until a few days ago we assumed it was the screens we were replacing it with since we did not damage the home button in any of the cases. But this week we tested an iphone 7 that someone brought us with a cracked screen. There was no issue with the home button after the screen was cracked and no message saying "iphone home button may need servicing"

All we did was power off the phone and disconnect the battery with the screen flex cables still attached. Then we reconnected it and upon bootup the phone gave the "unable to activate touch ID) message.

This might be a software but with the version of IOS the phone was on, sadly we were unable to check.

iPhone 7: Ripped one of the cables on LCD, but what is it exactly?

Hi!

I have disassembled an iPhone 7 but when taking of the screen one of the two flex cables from the lcd screen got ripped. The cable that got ripped runs upwards under the LCD part, to the top. The LCD and touch still work. (fun to know that the LCD and Touch both go through one flex cable). But it disabled the home button from working. I am trying to understand how the part that I broke runs underneath the hood and what I can do to solve it. Can somebody explain it to me with pictures where the cable runs to and how it works?

Updaten (04-05-21)

This is the Home Button cable. It’s very fragile for the iPhone 7 model. The solution is to buy a replacement screen. :)

iPhone 7: iPhone 7 home button not working after screen replacement?

So I currently work at a repair shop, and so far 1/3 customer iPhone 7/7 plus has been a success. Everything seems to be working fine except for the home button. I know for a fact that there can't be any damage to the home button flex since I've removed it very carefully and installed it carefully as well. Same 4 screw and everything but no luck. I even used the customer old screen and marked it as a no fix but sadly it stopped working with the original screen as well. It bothers me so much not knowing what I did wrong??? As I've done over hundreds of iPhones and never broken a Touch ID Flex before. Is there a technique to removing one cause I mean from my experience a iPhone 6 Touch ID with the heat plate is harder to remove than the iPhone 7's.
