iPhone 7: iPhone 7 Boot Loop issue with Front Camera/Proximity sensor

I have an iphone 7 that is stuck in a bootloop after screen replacement. The phone was working fine for about 2 weeks, then customer called and said his front camera, mic, sensor, etc was not working anymore. Ive narrowed it down to the proximity/front camera/earpiece flex. When its disconnected phone powers up fine but when reconnected goes straight back into bootloop again. Have tried replacing flex cable with 3 other spare ones, no luck. I'v also tried unplugging the home button extension flex cables without any luck. Tried replacing the screen with 3 others screen as well. The only thing I wasn't able to try is an original apple screen and home button assembly.

I have seen other people experiencing this issue as well on this forum, would definitely like to know what's going on. This looks like software related... is this because of 3rd party screens?

Thank you

iPhone 7: home button replacement assistive touch won't go away

i had to replace the home button on my iphone 7. got a 3rd party button on ebay that looks exactly like the kind sold here on ifixit. the home button function works great, Touch ID does not (as expected). i recently upgraded IOS from 15.1 to 15.7 that's when the weirdness started. after the upgrade the Assistive Touch (on-screen) Home Button was turned on. i'd turn it off, but it would just turn itself on again.

searching the internet, i found some suggestions about settings in the Accessibility section, but none of those made any difference.

i read in a few places that (and this is conjecture from multiple sources) this is a new "feature" in IOS 15.6 (and later), that when IOS detects there "is a problem" with the home button (meaning it doesn't see the one that was shipped from the factory) it very helpfully turns on the Assistive Touch on-screen button - whether you want it or not. and even if you turn it off, it IOS doesn't care and will turn it back on.

does anyone have any additional light to shed on this?

i get that Apple is just trying to make the user experience better - we're from the government, we're hear to help you... - but when we switch the setting off, it should stay off. "No" means "No" Apple!!!

thanks for any insight you might have.

iPhone 7: iPhone 7 recording and microphone issues

Iphone 7, with very latest OS.

Issues: When i go into voice memo, I can't hit record button. It's grayed out. I try to facetime with someone and it immediately cancels. Place a call and the precipitant can't hear me. Try to record video and there is no audio. Clearly something is wrong with the recording features. Also, if I go into settings--> accessibility and try to turn on or off "Noise Canceling" that selection, where it SHOULD be, is not even in the menu. Just shows Mono Audio and then that's the last option. Strange.

I did a FULL reset, including settings, of the phone and restored from icloud. Updated to most current OS, etc.....and still same issue. So I'm starting to think this isn't software related. Is there anything else I need to check? Oh, I also checked under privacy to see if microphone was in there. Nope. Nothing at the moment.

I'm open to suggestions. I'm comfortable replacing the microphone hardware; however, I want to determine if that is what is bad first, before I spend the money and time.

iPhone 7: iPhone 7 no Power, no short!

Hi all,

I bought an iPhone 7 that came with no power, no charging issue, and without water damage. The phone was never opened and the board looks brand new. So I decided to look for the problem.

After going with troubleshooting , and after pressing the power button, the phone was drawing around 0.6 Amps, but no shorts were found in all VCC lines (MAIN, BOOST, etc). In fact all the PP lines were with the right voltage values.

Because there was some small heating coming from the CPU side (I couldn’t verify which side -bottom or top- was heating first), I decided to remove the stickers. After that, I could’t find any damage or short, so I removed the CPU shield (same as I did before). Then, I checked all voltages and looked for a short on VCC lines, but everything seamed normal.

However………. the current draw is now around 0.03 Amps after removing the shield.

Any clue?

I am afraid that I had a damaged/broken CPU chip (maybe caused from a faulty charger?, which I cannot know because the phone wasn’t mine).

Did the heating (from removing the shield) revealed the real problem? Or is it just something else? Does anyone has faced this problem before?

Thanks in advance for any hints!

Regards.

iPhone 7: iPhone disabled. Connect to iTunes.

Someone has tried the PIN too many times and disabled my iPhone. I have no sort of backup of my phone. I have 6 years worth of data on this phone, so will need to recover the data at all cost.I do not have any trusted PC but I know my PIN code and have access to my iCloud account.

What I have tried so far :

1. Plugging the iPhone to a PC (Normal Mode) :

This dint do anything, the phone merely vibrates when plugging it in normal mode. iTunes dosent detect the phone as well.

2. Plugging the iPhone to a PC (Recovery Mode) :

This gave me some hope. iTunes detected that the phone was in recovery mode. How ever I got the “There is a problem with the iPhone “iPhone” that requires it to be updated or restored”. So I decided that the phone’s OS needs to be updated to 12.3.1. So i update it and the phone finishes the update and goes into normal mode. The phone is still locked. I thought maybe the update had failed so I tried it again. No luck, same error.

Possible Solutions ?

Now I am here with 3UTools, not sure what to do. Is there something I can do in DFU mode ? This seems like a really trivial thing, and there has to be a simple solution to this without a factory reset and wiping the data. Any help is appreciated.

I am willing to go to all lengths to preserve the data. I don’t mind opening up the phone and maybe doing something with the hardware (i.e. battery reset if there is such a thing). I have the iFixit toolkit and have repaired an iPad before so that should not be a problem.

Update (3UTools Atempt):

I read what @benjamen50 had mentioned here : iPhone is disabled, connect to itunes.

I followed the exact same steps he mentioned. I tried flashing 12.3.1 version firmware onto the phone from recovery mode. So once the flash was completed, it booted up into normal mode and showed me the same screen. Is this normal or should it go back to Recovery Mode ?

iPhone 7: iPhone juddery / laggy after screen replacement

Hi everybody,

I already replaced a lot of LCD’s (no iPhone 7’s) and never had any issue.

Now I had an iPhone 7 to repair (screen replacement) and ordered a china display.

After replacing the screen, I noticed that the iPhone performance (ios 11.4.1 - latest one) is not the same as it was before. It’s not that bad but the difference between before and not is obvious. The phone doesn’t crash or doesn’t need long to open apps, or the performance is not 1sec behind as some people complain. It’s just working little bit slower (juddery).

I would like to know if this issue is related to the china display or if I broke something during replacing the display?

Unforutnately I don’t have the original display, otherwise I would have tried it.

Finally I ordered another Display from Amazon that has a 5 Star revision (120 revisions). This one is better as the one before. It’s kind of faster but still not as fast as an original Display.

Has anyone did the same experience or has the same issue?

Thanks in advance.

This evening I will upload a Video to show you guys exactely what the issue is.

iPhone 7: iPhone 7 no service, one capacitor shorted

Hi guys, I have one iPhone 7 here. It has no service, no baseband firmware in settings. I know it could be the baseband chip or baseband power IC (BBPMU). I want to reball the BBPMU first. However, I found one capacitor next to the BBPMU is shorted (see attached picture, the one in the red circle). The problem is that the schematics I got here is different from the phone. The phone is an UK phone, the iPhone 7 schematic available online probably is for North America or Asia? The PCB layout of the UK iPhone 7 is different from the schematic, so I don’t know which line the shorted capacitor belongs to, and I don’t know what it is, because the capacitor is simply not there in the schematic.

Can anyone tell me which line it is please? And what’s its name? Many thanks.
