iPhone 4: exact location of tiny black rubber spacer for proximity sensor

Hello,

I've managed to change the display assembly using iFixit guide, all good, except for the fact that this little black rubber shaped like a halfpipe fell out when i took the mainboard out, and i don't know where it belongs.

I didn't find anything specific in the guide, so i left it out.

After this, the proximity sensor works very erratic.

Can you please ad some more info into the guide related to this problem?

Thank you very much

iPhone 4: iPhone 4 No Display But Lights Up (Backlight working)

I recently acquired an iPhone 4 32GB. When i first received it it was totally unresponsive.

After replacing the battery and scrubbing the logic board with (90% Proof) alcohol and replacing the screen it turned to life. However i could only see a black screen, it did light up but with no apple logo appearing. It is highly visible so i know it is not a backlight issue.

First thing i tried was to do a hard reset - Power and Home for 10-15 seconds, with the result being a reboot but the issue still persisted. Then i removed the logic board and repeated the alcohol clean to make sure no corrosion remained.

I have tried 3 different screens which all work on other phones. Two of the screens show a black screen and the other a white screen (it had been slightly damaged).

I have restored in DFU mode and downgraded from 5.1.1 to 5.0.1. I have also tried different batteries as well as putting the logic board in a completely different phone to no anvil!

The only thing i haven't tried is soaking the board in alcohol. I may try this unless anyone can offer some other tips/advice as to any solutions I could try? I have already search the deepest depths of google but no method seems to work!

Any help in the slightest would be appreciated!

Many Thanks in Advance

iPhone 4: Parts missing after repair

Hello there.

I have had a phone water damage problem which I had solved until my phone started asking for shutdown automatically and would take random pictures all the time.

Since it is quite old I undertook total dismantling and cleaning myself, using alcohol, which ended up fixing the problem but also making a blot on my LCD screen. I also lost a couple of screws (three) in the process and I have been kind of rough because I didn't have the required equipment.

I intend to buy a new phone, but since I will have to wait a while, I was wondering how long you think it can hold up and if it presents any danger in using it. I don't think I've actually done any damage to the components, but the missing screws and the one or two crunches I have heard during repair are what's stressing me out, so any feedback is welcome :)!

iPhone 4: Water stuck in iPhone screen

Ok here's my problem. My iphone 4 has home button problem since the last 2 months. So, since then I have known a solution from google saying rub it with a little alcohol around the home button. I do not have any, but I use the iKlear apple polish to do it. It works will, until today, it stop working.

Stop working as it is not responding at all. So i add more of this iklear, BOOM my screen is watery :( I pour too much and it gets into it via home button.

Below the screen, i can see the screen is not the same as before, and i believe it is iklear thats get into it.

I was wondering, is my SCREEN spoil???

Or that water stuck in between the glass case and above screen board?

As for now I do not dare to switch it ON.. so its OFF and i put it in a container with RICE...

Update

OK after 2 days... i hardly see my screen wet.. just 1 small white dot at the corner. now another problem is, my iphone didnot make any keypad, keylock, no sms tones, no sound playing any game/youtube.. but the phone is still ringing over phone call and sound notification. i can hear everything with headphone, but not without it. why?? is it because i soak in rice???

Update

I end up sending my phone to a shop for repair, since warranty void for water damage.. Got my home button fix...

as for the no text sound, no keylock sound, and no keypad sound, it has nothing to do with headphone jack... BUT the problem is with my dock connector error which recognize my iphone in dock speaker mode so it mute all that sound except ringtone.

so i fix home button & dock connector.

My display do have a little bit white spot, which the shop cant even detect it, but i already know where it is. So i dont change it since it is like to little.

Thanks for all the respond here, it really helps :)

iPhone 4: Problems with the LCD? Negative affect when phone is tilited?

I just recently replaced my iphone 4 screen which is not the first time. I have done this repair many times with very few problems I could not solve. After the repair I began to use the phone and something seemed off with the display immediately. When you tilted the phone to the right or up even a little bit up, the colors would invert as if i had turned on invert colors. It was like an illusion. I even put the invert colors setting on and then tilted it and guess what? It would invert the colors back to the original. Its really nothing drastic because the phone is fully functional but I would like to know what could be causing it? Maybe some damage to the LCD port? Any way comment if you need a better explanation because I know this post must be confusing.
