Soundbar: Samsung hw-j355 Soundbar Not Powering On

Bit of a rookie here...

I have a Samsung HW-J355 Soundbar that no longer powers on. I have fixed small obvious things in the past but there are no obvious faults and I am trying to diagnose this problem. Anyone out there who can guide me to anything that would help me (a beginner) diagnose a power issue on a board where I do not have schematics or anything of that nature? Or does anyone have specific experience with this Soundbar that can help?

Philips HTL2160C 12 Soundbar: Philips Soundbar needs multiple restarts to work

My Philips HTL2160C/12 soundbar has been acting up lately. At first, it wouldn’t make any sound after turning it on, but after turning it off and on again, it would work. Later, it would require more reboots. Recently, when in a reboot cycle, it sometimes has audio for a few seconds, then makes a sort of “cracking” or “electric” sound, stopping the audio again. Eventually though, it still functions, but I’ve had multiple sessions of clicking the On/Off button for over 15 minutes.

I’ve updated the firmware.

I’ve opened it up, but there does not seem to be obvious damage, although I haven’t performed a full teardown.

I have the soundbar hooked up through a 3.5mm audio jack. I’ve tried several cables and source devices.

Soundbar: Pure Accousitcs SBW-320 Wireless subwoofer not connecting

When I plug in and turn on my Pure Accoustics SBW-320 Soundbar with wireless subwoofer, the subwoofer does not connect. The Subwoofer's rear LED blinks from red to red/blue once per second.

Resetting the two units does not help. Unplugging them both and holding down the soundbar's power button does not help. Pressing the button on the subwoofer's PCB while it's powered on does not help.

Soundbar: Issue with Sony HT-S20R – Warranty denied due to alleged insect damage

I purchased a Sony HT-S20R soundbar system just 4 months ago. Recently, it started producing a buzzing / radio-like static noise when powered on or when playing audio. Sometimes there is no sound output at all, only this interference noise.

I registered a complaint with Sony service. The technician inspected it and claimed that the problem is due to cockroaches damaging the internal boards. They showed me that 4–5 small cockroaches were found inside the unit. However:

There is no visible rust, corrosion, or burn marks on the boards

The system is still physically clean and looks new

There are only two small boards inside (not a major full-board damage)

The product is only 4 months old

It is placed in a normal, clean household environment

Despite the lack of physical damage, Sony rejected warranty on the basis of insect entry and asked me to pay a huge amount for replacing both small boards, which feels unreasonable for such a new device.

My doubts/questions:

1. Can a few cockroaches, without visible corrosion or short marks, really cause this kind of buzzing fault?

2. Could this be a manufacturing defect or bad component instead of insect damage?

3. Everyone knows small insects can sometimes enter electronic devices in any home — should that alone void a 1-year warranty?

4. Why is full board replacement suggested when no major damage is visible?

If anyone has faced a similar problem with Sony HT-S20R or other soundbars, please share:

Was your issue really because of insects?

Did cleaning/fumigation/board wash fix it?

Did replacing capacitors/ICs alone solve the problem instead of replacing the whole board?

I’m looking for technical opinions and possible repair-level solutions before paying an unreasonable repair cost on a 4-month-old product.

Klipsch R4-B: Device went on powersave and never came back on

I purchased this Klipsch R4-B soundbar in 2016. It’s power adapter is plugged into a Cyberpower 1500AVRLCD UPS that is plugged into a correctly wired and grounded 120V receptacle. I have had no issues with this soundbar, until a week and a half ago.

My wife was watching TV on Saturday morning and we stopped to fix our lunch. I assume that the soundbar went into powersave mode, as it usually did after a certain timeout of inaction. When we came back in, we attempted to power on the soundbar, but nothing happened. I removed the power adapter from the wall and the soundbar and left unplugged for 30 minutes. Plugging back in still did not resolve the issue. That night, I left it unplugged from both optical interface and power, as well as unplugging the power adapter from mains, until the next morning. I reinstalled and still will not power on.

I tested the power adapter with my multimeter and it seems to be working fine, putting out 18.4V DC when it is spec’d for 18V. I dissassembled the unit and the circuit boards *look* fine, no scorch marks or outward signs of bad components (caps are not bulging, no leaks on caps, etc). I opened a ticket with Klispch Support over 10 days ago, but have not received a response.

Anyone have any good tips\techniques for me to effectively troubleshoot this issue?
