Apple Watch: No display after screen and battery replacement

I recently ordered from iFixit three items to repair my apple watch. Battery (just was not holding a long enough charge), force touch sensor and used sapphire screen (screen was shattered from a three foot unlucky angle drop). After installing all three without any issues (no torn cables, took about 30 minutes), I get no display.

When I charged my watch for about 1 hour the battery gets warm (the actual battery not the whole watch). Seems about as warm as is normally the case. I have tried putting the old screen on and the old battery back in with no luck. I have tried hard resets (holding crown and side button for up to a minute) . Nothing is working and nothing looks even slightly damaged. Am I out of luck? I throughly read through iFixit instructions before starting.

This is the first gen device. Series 0 or revision 1. As a side note I have successfully repaired at least ten iPhones; screens, batteries, cameras and even a proximity sensor (very small parts). One time I even tore apart a water damaged iPhone 4, cleaned all the parts, including the logic board with isopropyl, and had it running for a year.

Apple Watch: Bloated battery, screen popping off. Watch series 0, service?

So I literally got this watch last night from my brother. Apparently the battery is like four years old and is now bloated and popping the screen off. Obviously, it’s not in warranty. I contacted Apple and they want $250 plus tax and shipping to replace everything in which I told them isn’t going to happen because if I had that kind of money I’d buy a brand new watch instead. I got the watch for free because I couldn’t afford one and because my brother upgraded to their 4 series. Oh the envy.

My question is how hard is it to replace the battery and possibly the adhesive (to get the screen to stick back on) for a Series 0 watch? I looked at the tutorial and I’m a bit apprehensive about doing it. I honestly don’t want to do the repair myself because I tend to shake a lot and can’t do this type of in depth tiny part technical work anymore. It’s like !&&* trying to get tiny screws tightened on my glasses with my shaky hands. It’s not fun. So does anyone have any recommendations for (reputable) companies that charge a lot less for battery replacement? I thought ifixit might offer such a service themselves (in addition to those who want to fix it themselves) but I can’t find anything like that on the website. If not I suppose I’ll have to go about and try to do it myself because it seems the inexpensive route.

Apple Watch Series 2: Pairing failure after LCD shift

I cracked my Apple Watch 2 screen and replaced it with a new on my own. However, after the screen shift, the watch fails pairing to any watch. I have tried it a hundred timed on five different iPhones but it always fails. What might have gone wrong? The display shift was easy and was done without apparent problems. Thankful for input!

Update (06/01/2018)

I read here that the only way to get the watch to work again is to ‘reflash new firmware by ibus 2...’:

Apple Watch Series 2: Apple Watch Series 3 screen replacement

Hello people from ifixit,

I need to know if the complete screen from Apple Watch Series 3 is the same as Series 2 and can be replace one for the other or need to remove some flex or IC from one to put in the other. Some people tell me that need to change the NFC IC.

Thank you

Update (10/30/2017)

Hello Dan, and thank you for you're quickly answer.

Really what I need is a technical opinion and not about warranty coverage because I have many Series 2 from many customers with crack screens that need to be replaced.

But no one has big quantity of Series 2 complete screen on the market to buy. For this reason I posted the question. My supplier in China who I did buy many Series 1 complete screens (hyper-trustable) tell me that the LCD & Touchscreen module is compatible.

But, need to replace a flat ribbon cable with some component that are glued on the back side of this module, they call it the NFC IC but I don't know really if is trueIy inclusive in the Series 3 teardown description the IFIXIT team wrote this info: "Spec-wise, the display is unchanged from the Series 2, with one key difference - it now functions as a multifrequency (LTE?) antenna. We'll be testing compatibility to see if the displays really are interchangeable."

Based in this info I believe that both are compatible.

Thanks
